Some of them are just genuine assholes who want to be cruel to others and their orange leader grants them the authority to do so, but a lot of them are just swept up by the propaganda of Fox News and other right wing news outlets and have turned their backs on family and friends because of it.

They sound like conspiracy theorists on par with flat earthers and moon landing skeptics.

I think about 30% are made up of hardcore racists and similar hate groups. The remaining 70% don't necessarily share their views but don't feel too comfortable sitting next to a black guy on a bus and wouldn't want one as a neighbour. I suspect they don't actually support Trump but are merely voting against Kamala out of party loyalty.
