I know it’s the last day to vote but still I’m confused from what people are telling me.

Polling places will close by time zone; typically, they'll close at seven or eight PM, local time. The votes will still have to be counted, but that... well, it SHOULD be done pretty much immediately after, but usually isn't.
Anyway, as soon as one candidate passes 270 electoral votes, they'll win, so it COULD be as soon as 9 PM CST (I think; I haven't done the math.). In practical terms, it'll likely go until 9 or 10 Pacific time.
It's not unheard of, though, for the matter to be so close in certain counties that it's undecided, and it takes a few days for a final winner to be announced, like in 1960 and 2000. Given the bitterness and viciousness in this race, it wouldn't surprise me if we saw something similar.
Of course, that's just the Presidency; every other race is settled by popular vote, like sane people do, and is declared immediately after it ends.
after all the lawsuits are settled.
Go vote. worry about results later.
