If we need to leave, we're aiming for Canada. It's close and my husband has a qualifiable job & knows some french. Hopefully Trump was just lying about all the shit he wants to do so we won't have to leave, but if he really follows through with exactly what he said then we'd have just until February to figure out a temporary place to stay until we can either get refugee status or some other way to stay long-term.
If you really want to help, give money. The issue for Americans trying to leave country isn't finding a place to go, its getting enough money to get out. Capitalism doesn't like losing workers.

The main immediate problem for my family is his explicit promise to ban a form of medical care my husband needs on day one. Which is why I said, hopefully he was just lying like he usually does. If not, and worst happens, then the main breadwinner (not to mention my fucking husband and our child's father) health will be compromised and the longer we stay the higher risk of serious bad effects. In this situation with that even as a POSSIBLE option, wouldn't YOU want to be prepared in case you need to take drastic action for your spouse/family?
Obviously missiles are a risk. Obviously women's health and general health is at risk. Obviously lgbt+ and children are at risk. I can't focus on everything right away—the exit plan is only an emergency option in case it becomes necessary for the survival of my immediate family. This is not "living in fear" it is being prepared so we DONT have to live in fear by not knowing or being prepared for what could happen.

We've already got issues with medical coverage pre Trump on our side... e. g. we have hard time finding doctors that take our insurance. we just deal with it so far. but it isn't life/death severe. yes, there may be high priorities and that makes sense.

That's what we're hoping. Unfortunately he explicitly promised to BAN it. Not just ban insurance from covering it, but make it a crime to offer his medication as even an option, anywhere in the country. It's a big fucking promise and I don't think he will be able to follow through with it (at least not on day one), but i am not taking the risk of not having any plan in case he does actually try and succeed to.
