Unfortunately, Gaetz is under investigation by the House for sexual misconduct including allegedly having sex with a minor and paying for sex.

1 yThis would be like President Biden picking Andrew Cuomo after learning about the sexual misconduct / controversial plan to put recovering Covid19 patients into nursing homes OR President Obama picking P Diddy after learning about the…. Diddy stuff.
Matt Gaetz is a sex fiend who would have contests with fellow Florida office officials who can bang the new female interns / workers first in a “sex Bingo”, had sex with a minor and even had a public account which showcased the funds being stored under weird titles, one example being “school supplies”.
Now, I will admit that this shouldn’t be shocking from a civilly liable rapist, a man who has said on record nasty & sexist comments derogatory toward the female gender, and even invoked multiple times that if he weren’t the father of his daughter…. He might have “dated” her. This shouldn’t be a shock to anyone because we know the scumbag he is, yet we somehow elected him as sheeple & fools.

*forgot to mention that Matt Gaetz would show naked photos of the women he slept with (from the previous night) Gross, disgusting, and ethically drained.

1 yThis is literal insanity. Can’t believe this is happening. Dude from FoxNews replacing a 4-Star General as Secretary Of Defense. This can’t be real life.

Hegseth is an Ivy League graduate and has decades of military service and experience. He's a combat veteran and was awarded 4 service medals, including 2 combat medals.
- 1 y
@NYCQuestions1976 ok, but like…. is he a general? I’d like a 4-Star general AT MINIMUM for this role, and also people with zero history of hush money payouts for sexual assault. Also, you guys can’t spend all this time calling colleges elitist liberal indoctrination centers and then turn around and speak about the conservative graduates of these places as if we should fall at their feet for being an Ivy Leaguer.
- 1 y
Most colleges are liberal indoctrination centers, and liberal paranoia based on nonsensical lawfare cases and accusations are entertainment, at best. I was just pointing out that Hegseth's résumé has far more accomplishments than just being a television host.
- 1 y
But does he have the skills to run a 1.3 million personnel, hundreds of billion dollar operation? THATS THE QUESTION!!
- 1 y
@DrPepper12 Well - we already know how careful he is and what good judgment he has, right?
Oh wait - does this sound like someone else we know of? - 1 y
More importantly, who was running the Department of Defense during the botched coathanger abortion more commonly known as the Afghanistan withdrawal? Additionally, who was that person's boss? 🤔
- 1 y
@NYCQuestions1976 Trump's plan, bidens execution. They both fucked up but it's best that we withdrew. 20 years, countless lives, for what? Nation building? Please. We're better at assassination and coups.
- 1 y
@DrPepper12 Biden was President at the moment of execution. That means he's Commander In Chief. He could've easily moved the deadline, and/or started the withdrawal process sooner. Yes we needed to withdraw, but not that way. That operation was inexcusable. Biden treated, planned, and executed that withdrawal like he was doing a high school book report in morning home room the day it was due.

1 yI would not be surprised if he gets rejected or gets withdrawn. I can see him easily losing enough GOP Senators to sink this. Also, where is the wisdom in choosing so many House members, perhaps enough to give the Democrats the House till the special elections to replace those members or beyond? Baffling.

He doesn't need the Senate - he can and will get a recess appointment:

Doesn't it feel like most of the threads keeping the country from a dictatorship have been cut at this point (or will be very soon)? No more military leaders loyal to the constitution over the party, a corrupt SCOTUS who say the president can commit crimes, plans to eliminate the FBI and use the DoJ against their enemies (like Merchan and his daughter), just the good will of Republican senators (who were too scared to convict Trump in 2021) left.
5.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Gaetz has apparently already resigned from Congress. How much would you like to bet that Trump "changes his mind", leaving him out to dry with no position?
That would at least be funny, considering Gaetz is unlikely to face consequences for child rape or ignoring a congressional subpoena.
31 Reply- 1 y
For anyone suggesting the senate might stop him being confirmed: "Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), a Trump ally, said on Fox News that those Republicans considering opposing Gaetz would face retribution from Trump and his allies. “We’re gonna try to get you out of the Senate if you try to do that,” the Alabama senator said."
(I'm sure it's coincidence that Gaetz resigned two days before the vote on making the results of the ethics probe public.)

Are you certain? I assure you that the liberals' reactions are very entertaining and amusing. Anyway, there will be no regrets.
26.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yes, he is a good pick. He was a tireless fighter against lawfare and the weaponization of the DOJ. He is no friend of the FBI.

@goaded He will take on lawfare. He knows what it is like to be persecuted for being s Republicsn. He should ignore the subpoena until the democrats can come up with any evidence of him having sex with an underage girl.
Trump's choice was a surprise but he explained why he made that choice. and it makes a lot of sense. - 1 y
"The woman who was at the center of a yearslong Justice Department investigation into sex trafficking allegations surrounding Rep. Matt Gaetz testified to the House Ethics Committee that the now-former Florida congressman had sex with her when she was 17 years old, sources familiar with the investigation told ABC News."
She's not the only witness, and her identity is known, just not publicised.

@Juxtapose It wasn't rape, he was paying for sex with a 17 year old girl. That's fine with you, clearly.
- 1 y
@Juxtapose He is presumed innocent. The accuser will be the "People of New York" or wherever this occurred. Not the victim.
- 1 y
@Juxtapose "he is presumed innocent..." Not by me. I'm not the judge or on the jury, I'm just looking at the accusations, the fact that a judge found probable cause that there was evidence of crimes on Gaetz's phone, and his actions to avoid the report coming out.
Just to be clear, you're saying it's perfectly fine for representative Gaetz for pay for sex with young women, right? I mean, that's not seriously in question. - 1 y
@goaded Luckily for Gaetz and the rest of us, he is in fact presumed innocent by the legal system until proven otherwise - as all of us are. It is a right that we all enjoy, and we have that right so that people are not convicted on hearsay and gossip.
If he had sex and paid for it with a girl of legal age, then he did and there is no crime. If she was under the legal age, that is a different story and if he knew or should have known of her age, there might be a crime. That is up to a court, not me - or you.
What I am quite tired of is people on here deciding on what is the "appropriate" age for women to have sex irrespective of the real legal age of consent, and then accusing any man who has sex with a woman under the age they have arbitrarily designated of be a "rapist" or a "pedo". That is the height of arrogant narcissism. - 1 y
@msc545 wow, I find myself in total agreement with you.
It's especially weird though hearing this criticism of Matt from the other guy because in Germany the age of consent is fucking 14 and prostitution is legal lol.
And yeah, I insist on a fair trial for Matt and none of this kangaroo court bullshit that Trump has had to go through. - 1 y
@Juxtapose I rally dislike Gaaetz but I as a good American still advocate for a fair trial for he and everyone else.
I think Trump got a VERY fair trial. There was nothing that the court or the Judge did except make findings that you didn't agree with. - 1 y
From a friend..
"
A local prosecutor magically turned a single state misdemeanor into 34 federal felonies in a state court in front of a judge with direct ties with the Biden administration, and whom also instructed the jury that they could still find the Defendant guilty even if they couldn't "find" or "identify" the crime. Stop gaslighting people with your disingenuous dangerous socialism bullshit and stop deliberately spreading disinformation." - 1 y
@Juxtapose It is weird that we agree but I guess it had to happen sooner or later...:)
- 1 y
"in Germany the age of consent is fucking 14" only for people of a similar age. Do you lock up teenage children for consensual sex? This is true: "prostitution is legal", big deal. Most of the law is designed to protect the sex workers. It's only legal for 18+, so someone in their 30s paying for sex with a 17 year old would be illegal here as well as immoral.
You both misunderstand me. Yes, a court and jury presume innocence. That's one thing. However, there's nothing to say that an individual cannot form an opinion based on news reporting from reputable sources or, even better, court documents.
It's a bit rich for @Juxtapose to be complaining about my opinion of Gaetz, when he's constantly accusing Biden of dozens of things that aren't remotely true.
If I were on a jury in his trial, I'd have to see it proven beyond a reasonable doubt. But I'm not, am I?
Am I supposed to think that Trump didn't have all those government documents, just because it didn't come to trial? I've heard audio of him showing them to people after he left the presidency. I'd have to be stupid not to form an opinion based on that. - 1 y
@Juxtapose Of course, we all know how impartial prosecutors are and how they instruct juries... actually Judges instruct juries as it turns out, and prosecutors are about as impartial as defense attorneys. Especially unnamed prosecutors.
Stop the bullshit. - 1 y
It's not bullshit, the kangaroo court shit needs to fucking stop.
I mean stop to think about it for a fucking second. Trump is being persecuted like no tomorrow meanwhile fucking war criminals like Dick Cheney and Barack Obama are walking free. Obviously this is selective and malicious prosecution.
Same with Matt, it's complete garbage. - 1 y
@Juxtapose Cheny, like Bush, helped to make a lot of money for the defense contractors so he was not prosecuted. Obama did nothing he could have been prosecuted for except to be black. Trump actually committed many crimes.
- 1 y
@Juxtapose I am aware of him doing that with one person. That is one too many, but if we prosecute that what do we do with Bush who literally lied and started a war that killed a lot MORE Americans?
- 1 y
@Juxtapose I think you are right, but of course, Obama and Bush and Trump would have immunity thanks to Trump persuading SCOTUS that he should have it...
