Not even December yet and I'm do excited. Just can't wait to set up the Christmas tree, see the lights on the house. Set up the nativity scene on out lawn. Mistletoe, Christmas food, the Holly&the ivy, Christmas carols, Christmas music, church. Dressing for Christmas. Gift giving. Family& friends. I just love it. This year we are hosting his family.

Typically I get her books and art supplies for Christmas, and something nice to wear for our anniversary. This year I'm getting her synthetic diamond earrings.

Don't know if it does. It's more of a cultural thing exported from Germany by the British royal family. How long it had been going on Germany who's to say. I know most cultures in Europe used evergreen plants to decorate coming up to their winter religious festivals that took part on the winter solstice, Christmas used to take place on the winter solstice as the winter solstice occurred on the 25th of December before the greogrian calender was brought in to stop calender drift. That's why the Jewish and Greek orthodox calender don't line up with the calender we use today.

We don't do mistletoe in my country. But there is of course the tree, the decorations. Chrismtas music, yup. There's also Christmas eve mass and Christmas day mass.
And I don't know where you're from of turkey is also the standard for Christmas, but it is here. I'm not a fan of turkey, but I do like "chapon" which I just learned is a castrated rooster of the gallus gallus domesticus species lol20 Reply

I'm not sure on the situation but would recommend some Christmas celebration if not just for her but you know what's best.

I'll have a traditional Christmas if my sister doesn't go out of town. If she stays home I'll go to her place with a traditional turkey meal and then we'll open presents, one at a time, beginning with the youngest person.

I just don't believe in anything I can't see with my own eyes. That doesn't mean that a religion isn't completely true and accurate. I just can't personally say that I know it to be true. I also don't believe in the big bang or the claimed pathways of evolution. The basic concept of evolution is visible with my own eyes though.
