Trump is running as a populist. He does not actually have any ideologies or whatever, he simply picks positions that is popular with groups of people.

More specifically, he manufactures narratives and positions that resonates with uneducated people. For instance, what you believe is a "migrant crisis" does not exist. It is related to a different problem associated with Americas immigration process but the narrative that millions of illegal immigrants are flooding into America and ruining the place is not true.

In fact, it is one of the most basic of political lies. "THEM" are coming over here to "OUR LAND" and are responsible for "ALL YOUR PROBLEMS". This is basically the oldest trick in the book and liars have been using it in politics since we have had recorded history to prove it.

But they keep using it because it keeps working. The simplest political trick still works because average people do not recognize it for what it is and keeps having their emotions manipulated. Trump is not actually very good at this whole politics business. If the average voter simply had a passing knowledge of the basic lies that any politician uses then they would not have been so easily fooled.

Knowledge such as the ability to see through lies or knowledge of how people before them has been fooled are like weapons for self defense, and the uneducated voter is completely defenseless against novice liar as demonstrated.

The biggest reason? Well considering how badly they got their asses kicked, it's tough to pick one. It's a horse race between the economy, migration, and the weird perverted gender horseshit they're pushing in schools. All three of these issues deep-sixed them.
