As someone who thinks Alex Jone's is a crazy conspiracy theorist and completely disagree with what he said, I must say this case shocked me.

The case against him by the Connecticut lawfair system with cooperation from a few traitorously dirty Texas judges is a testament to the fall of the American republic and an enormous problem for the State of Texas.

Basically the the Connecticut lawful system has been weaponized against various political enemies extracting absurd fees for even more absurd charges. Alex Jones in being charged $1.5 billion dollar under the laws of Connecticut for stating a conspiracy theory on the air IN TEXAS.
Which is of course an:
1: total violation of freedom of speech and the press.
2: A compete abolition of Texas state sovereignty subjecting every Texas citizen to the crazy laws of every other state in which they had NO hand in making.
3: An insanely outrageous charge disproportionate to the crime. There nothing anyone could say about Sandi hook families worth $1.5 billion dollars!
Let alone a guy with almost no credibility well known for putting out nonsense.

You cannot just blatantly trust anything anyone says even government leaders. You have to gather your own information, listen to what the experts have to say (no government officials aren't experts) and also listen to the people it's going to affect.

Here in NZ there is currently a protest going on about something government is trying to make changes to. The party leader who is calling for these changes is asking for a national vote because he is well aware that majority of people are uneducated on the topic and will vote in favour because at a glance that is what seems "right".

For there to be damages for libel, you have to have monetary loss. So like if I posted on social media "I got food poisoning from Bob's diner, Bob is a racist" and people stopped going to Bob's diner, and Bob decided to sue me, I'd be liable for any business he potentially lost (so if a normal day was $10,000 and he didn't have customers for a week, I'd owe him 70k) None of these sandy hook people can claim they lost income or wages as a result of what Alex said.
