Yes tenacity pays off. I had to drop out of college twice and finished by going part time at night. I completed it when I was over 30. I had a successful career in IT and made good money. I am now retired.

I got a very difficult graduate degree and a license to practice after many years of study. I think this took tenacity as it was very hard and I sometimes felt like giving up.

To some degree, I think you're right, although there were one or two courses I took in the first year that seemed ridiculously easy, but that was long before I was in grad school and these were just simple introductory courses. Things got very serious very quickly after that.
