What do you think about people who think that respect is earned on rather or not they respect you?

Prison rules apply here. Give respect to get respect. Definitely worth adding into your everyday life especially with how quickly this world is changing. People who see that you don't tolerate disrespect and quickly shut it down and don't allow them to push or bend those boundaries, tend to either respect you for standing firm by your beliefs or they avoid you and disrespecting your boundaries in the future.

Wrong. Respect isn't earned or a product of fear. It's an even exchange of integrity for one another. Respect is only of the moment using gesture. Respect for another momentarily encapsulates total willingness to further engage with another.

Well… some women would say girls want attention, but women prefer respect.
As for us gents, it is best to respect those older than us…meaning they get the benefit of the doubt, until that is, they do something stupid or disrespectful to eliminate that thought process.

i think a certain base line of respect for being part of the human species should be granted. but other than that, i agree with it mostly being earned.
