Reading and writing.
Statistics show that 54% of US adults can’t read above a 6th grade level. This means they struggle with words that have 4 or more syllables such as institution, psychology, and onomatopoeia. Not to mention 20% of US adults read at a 5th grade level or lower, meaning they are functionally illiterate. This inability to read at their age level is probably a huge part of why so many americans are so heavily divided in politics, because a lot of americans don’t have the capability to read and understand as much as some others in their same age range.
