Is Matt Gaetz Getting Too Much Hate?

Looking from outside, I think many of the US politicians are corrupt and cartoonishly evil. To my understanding Matt Gaetz paid a woman for sex without knowing she was only 17yo, in a state where legal limit is 18yo. I think people should follow laws and it's completely fair to call him out, but I think it's kinda ridiculous to be all over Gaetz over a mistake like that, while the whole establishment is rotten and filled with evil people. There are bigger problems to think about and this is just a way to throw someone under the bus.

Actually, legally speaking I dont think it matters if Gaetz knew she was 17 or not. This is one of the cases where the law is flipped and instead of claiming ignorance is a defense, it becomes an admission of guilt. It is your responsibility as an adult to make sure that your partner is of age and I think it is even your ass on the line if the minor successfully LIES to you.

So yeah, saying "whoops, teehee~ what an honest mistake" is not going to earn Gaetz much sympathy and probably also not protect him in court if the court actually decided they wanted to hold the elite to account one of these days.

That said, this is politics. The reason Matt Gaetz is getting thrown out is because he played the game wrong. There are undoubtedly more pedophiles in politics who are being protected from being exposed when at the same time Matt Geatz is being fed to the wolves and it all comes down to Matt Gaetz making enemies rather than friends.

It is well known since previously that his fellow Republicans working alongside Matt Gaetz could not stand the guy on a personal level. All they needed was an excuse to drive the knife in from behind and they now got it. The results is as you see, Matt Gaetz being pushed under the buss and used as a distraction so that the opposition would not go after other GOP members. Still a big blow to Trump however since it paints his administration in a bad light.

From Finland and rape is usually forced and has a clear victim. I wouldn't call a sex selling 17yo who pretends to be an adult a victim. She's just as bad or worse in that situation.
