It's the ancient/primitive part of the brain that houses our need for survival and our "fight or flight" instinct/response. It doesn't house intelligence, per se, but just the basic will to live.

Most species have evolved in the brain department, but not all. @exitseven and I agree that we both hate the fact that we have to own guns. That's a fact. When a few seconds matter, the cops are only minutes away.

The fight or flight instinct is in all creatures.

I had to take a self defense class for work. They teach you that the best defense is running/flight. lol If running isn't your strong suit, then the fight is on. We all want to live to see another day.

What is wrong with liberals? They champion the killers, and don't care about the victims.

Incidentally there is evidence that conservative and liberal brains are structurally different to the degree that political orientation can be predicted from brain MRIs. It appears that conservatives are cognitive thinkers. That is given A=B, B=C therefore A=C. That gives us risk reasoning capability. Lefties are more hysterical thinkers. In this case that means emotive thinkers. I am not meaning hysterically and irrationally going off their chops although, of course, they frequently do. No, it is more that Lefty thought doesn't go deeper than a meme because that is quite enough for emotional reasoning.

Lefties have an unhealthy less developed amygdalae where fear is felt whilst conservatives are better endowed. So the Lefty thinks the 'more the merrier' and I don't need to think anymore than that. What could possibly go wrong? Note the complete absence of risk assessment of consequences at the point they have made their decision.

Quite a lot could go wrong of course. They could be murderers, rapists and pedos and what makes us think they won't do that after they immigrate? They might douse women in accelerant and set them on fire.

When that does happen, the Lefty is just going to think 'more is merrier' is still true so the policy is still correct and consequences aren't my problem.

Of course conservative thought will be mostly centered on what could go wrong and they will connect violent immigrants with murders and rapes.

So the "reptilian cortex" is the part of the brain that controls fear. It focuses on fight or flight. Humans have evolved past that and can focus on more complex things like medicine and arguing about politics on web forums. But "liberals" don't have this fear response. That's why they want to open up all the prisons and let in all the illegals.

So wouldn't it make more sense to argue that "liberals" don't have a "reptilian cortex"?

They is a old school high school science understanding of the brain. The brain does not has parts that have certain functions that hail back from our ancestors etc. Particular flight of fight.
