Sounds like someone is letting their echo chamber wind them up again. Always question why media or politicians make you feel that this is reality. Both political sides in the US get money out of average people by selling fear or anger. If you are feeling scared or angry really drill down and ask the opposite questions. The whole argument is about having controlled fires. There is a growing body of evidence that the native tribes who used to perform controlled forest fires were right and should have been listened too.

When you let all those leaves and dead trees around for years and years, you build up a lot of timber across a very wide area.
