Can someone explain to me when a game will be able to have non-white characters without being called woke or DEI?

First off, I'm right wing, but that doesn't stop me from seeing bad things happening. I just had a game called woke, a lot of games are, but not this one, and that's a problem. The left trivialized racism, homophobia, etc. by saying that everything was racism and homophobia, and if the right starts calling any game with a non-white protagonist woke it will be the same thing.

First of all, games with a non-white protagonist are typically not automatically considered woke. It's only when white protagonists are replaced by non-white ones in existing games or storylines that its called woke because there was clearly a deliberate decision made to do it, and the motive is obvious.

Having said that, there is definitely a backlash against DEI happening and some people do overreact, which is understandable given what has been happening the last few years.

DEI is dying a fast death, which is all good, but it will take some time to heal the damage it has done to the collective American psyche.
