Well most people do think German cars are better because they have the autobahn to test them out but American do more testing on there cars and make them safer. Also America have more a variety of sport cars or luxury cares than Germany.

Broadly speaking, German, but you also need to understand that you are getting gouged when you buy them in the US, so they aren't necessarily a worthy investment. Furthermore, because they use a lot of proprietary parts, letting a third party mechanic or doing work on it yourself tends to lead to an avalanche of new problems when inexperienced owners try to take shortcuts.

US automakers with the exception of Tesla aren't really innovative anymore, and more importantly, build most mainline production cars to fail and be traded in after a few years; they're a disposable product.

My all-around favorite cars of all time are BMWs up through about 2017, and I still have a 2006 335i that is an absolute blast to drive, half a million miles later. Computerization has overcomplicated them since then, and more importantly (to me) the aesthetic redesign of that dumbass bucktooth grill on the 3 and 4 series is unforgivable. Porsche is Germany's cream of the crop, but their cost has inflated too much to be worth it in my opinion, and Mercedes has been overrated forever. Audis aren't really anything special since everyone offers AWD now, and VW makes a solid car, just not one people get excited about.

America makes some pretty good cars, but the average person doesn't know about them... Just a couple examples...

and since there's always some American hating tard that will try to compare some race car to some production street car might as well drop the Ford GT here since there is always some turd from France, Germany or where ever that thinks they're hot shit...

I always buy American. You buy a german car and the first time it has to get fixed you have to take out a second mortgage on your house.
My old boss drove BMWs and he used to tell me how much it costs to get even an oil change and it was twice what you would pay at a regular place/

It's true. My father used to drive a Mercedes and it cost a fortune every time he took it in for service.

It depends if you want to pay $350.00 for an oil change on a German car or $10,000.00 for a brake job on a German car then you have to decide if one is a bit better but costs a small fortune to maintain vs. One that is a bit less but easy and inexpensive to maintain monthly.

Apart from the odd Ford or an old classic you'll rarely see an American car on the UK roads. Might as well buy chinese.

Considering the cost for repair, on amarican VS German cars, yes Americans are better. When it comes to reliability, American or Japanese over German. When it comes to cost of maintenance, again American or Japanese way over German.

For example, a friend of mine had a BMW which required a tune up. The cost of it was nearly 10,000 because it was engine out. The equivalent American car costs between 500 and 600 dollars for a tune up.

German cars handle better but that's about it. Nowadays German cars are only good if you get a new one every 5 years. There's so many stupid electronic gizmos and when they start breaking, you're screwed.

What do you want it for? I had a BMW sedan and the handling was fantastic. Unfortunately German cars can be expensive to maintain.

Depends on service. At this point german cars have lost resale value due to covid and the skyrocketing cost and limited availability of parts. Thanks trump for letting covid in. You're awesome.

German cars are better, but I think the US is better at designing cars that are more capable of enduring these rugged roads.

Now that sounds like a challenge! I neither know or care about cars, but it might be fun to name a criterion and see what people think is the best car that satisfies it. If you've got the time and inclination, that is.
