This is stupid. To address some of the nonsense in the video, nothing could have theoretically been done to stop this wildfire. Furthermore, nothing could theoretically have improved the preparedness of the firefighters to fight it.
Yes, the fire hydrants in one local area ran dry. They do that when you drain the local water towers for almost a day straight. They are not infinite. No, this does not mean that the system ran out of water. If you have a water tank in your house and you empty it by using your water to take a shower that does not mean your city is out of water just because no more water is coming out of your shower. It takes time to move the water from the dams and reservoirs, which had record amounts of water I might add, to refill the water towers that was drained.
Could California have built more water towers? Sure. Would it have helped? Meh.. maybe give the fire fighters a few more hours before it ran dry again. This is a technical limitation more than anything. It is not reasonable to expect a solution for disasters that goes beyond our ability to fight.
Being upset at California that the fire happened is like being upset that Florida did not fight off a hurricane before it made landfall. It is inevitable and everyone knows it (except you apparently).
I am all for desalination plants by the way, but its not going to help fight wildfires. They are not going to help provide more water for the fire hydrants. That is not how the system works. This is a clear display of absolute ignorance akin to a child being confused how there can be a fire when they can see so much water in the ocean.
Look, I understand that your distrust of government means that you are willing to believe the worst assumptions when you hear of news like this. How the fire only happened because of incompetence or that someone fucked up somewhere because they are Democrats. That is not always the case. Sometimes everyone is doing their absolute best and yet there is no fighting the wrath of mother nature. California has a fire season, not because we can resolve the issue of wildfires there but because the threat is so large that it is beyond our control.
In fact, you can go back and look at people commenting on previous wild fires or fire seasons in California. They all say that they were lucky that things did not get worse and that there was always something that saved them like a rain-shower or favorable winds. This is the first time in modern memory where we did not get lucky and we felt what the real potential for wild fires in California is. This is what they had always feared would happen but at the same time always knew would come.
Did the fact that 2 reservoirs were dry for almost over a year for maintenance, especially when they knew how parched it was in LA county, and that fire season was coming up, escape you?
I feel like I am repeating myself here. California had RECORD AMOUNTS OF WATER stored. They had more than enough water available, and before you whine more about reservoirs being down for maintenance, I am pretty sure those two are actually being upgraded with another being built to store even more water.
Please do not talk about things you do not understand.
I live in Orange County and know more than you think. I see shit every day here. There is no way LA county can store a lot of water, especially water that it doesn't get when it gets no rain, and several reservoirs are empty for maintenance. So, your thoughts of storing water are full of holes, like the dams Numb Nuts Newsom had removed when we were in a drought to save some stupid fish which seemed more important than human lives. ๐
First of all, California just got like 3 billion dollars to maintain and upgrade their water infrastructure. That is why they are maintaining and upgrading the water storage as well as building a whole new reservoir.
Secondly, California literally had record amounts of water stored. This is inarguable.
Thirdly, California relies mostly on surface water AKA rivers and lakes that is supplied by rain. However, the rain is not limited to California itself. More specifically there is approximately 157 million acres of land spanning 8 states that plays a role in collecting and supplying water to California.
So yeah.. I am not fucking surprised you have not seen a lot of rain to explain why California can collect so much because that is not how it works.
Are you serious? The LA and Riverside areas have not had rain since Lassie was a pup. Since Newsom tore down the dams we can not store water. In fact, we are allocated only so much as the growers need some. We get a lot of water from the California Aqueduct that comes into LA. Areas like Arvin and Lamont where all the crops grow have had unprecedented shortages. The last time I went to Lake Isabella it was down quite a bit and the Kern River crapped out before it got to Bakersfield. The growers had ti rip out all their Almond trees because they required too much water. Our lawns are brown because we weren't allowed to water them, or even wash our cars for awhile. Most of Southern California is in drought conditions. So I have no idea where you get that California gets a lot of water to store. If we had it, the 2 reservoirs would not have been so low that they said, wtf, since we don't have it full, we may as well work on it.
1: Enjoy climate change.
2: Since you dont care to look things up, here is a website that reports the current water reserves of California:

Here is another website that tracks water in California:

There is plenty of water saved up in California. That was never the problem with the fire hydrants running out of water. End of story.
I am not from California. I'd be interested in what Californians have to say. They are the ones who keep voting them in. Seems kind of "feel good" like they think they are good people and say things they think "good people" would say but overall they seem utterly incompetent. California has been considered a horribly run state for at least a decade or more.
Let's hope an earthquake doesn't hit.

We did try to get rid of Newsome and it failed. He only has a couple more years left and then he has to let someone else take the reigns. Unfortunately, 2 years is still a long time to do a lot of damage. As for bass, I don't know about larger cities, but in other cities I think the mayoral term is only like 1 or 2 years and they can't run consecutively. So they should just not reelect her
Let me help!
We like Newsom, and it is too soon to tell about bass. What we dislike are MAGA people who don't live here, like yourself, trying to tell us what to do. California is a blue state and we made it that way and we like it that way.
@msc545 Hmmm, California is $35 Billion in debt. Everyone is leaving California in droves. Yet he has the audacity to ask for Federal aid while he squanders money and lives a luxurious lifestyle, spending $millions each year on hair gel alone. ๐๐คฃ Didn't he just buy a new mansion on a governor's salary? Hmmmmm.
California is democrat land 💙🔵
I'd love the democrats also, if I was as a Californian
Hopefully you would be smart enough not to live there, at least not in Southern California. ๐ซ People and business are not quitting there and moving out of California for a reason.
Love them democrats ๐
@msc545 Well clearly you don't live in the LA area, but most likely Northern California. And I do live in Southern California. But if you love it, maybe you are part of the problem? I bet you love Newsome too. ๐
Newsom without the 'e. Even though I love E cups on a woman of my daydreams โ๏ธ unrelatedly - hooray for the letter E, E is for e-cups lol ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ mmmm milk ๐
You act like the voters have a choice! 😂
Well, they refused to recall him and then even re-elected him, so they did have one but chose to keep this clown.
I don't know about now, plus I'm thinking he is looking for the Presidency at some time in the future.
Please no! He can't run a state! He is making the dumbest laws and ruining things all over that state!
It's iligal to ask for proof of I'd at voting...
You can walk across the street any where any time and not get a Jwaloong ticket!
Yeah lot of deaths there!
They are rounding up homeless and bussing them to any other city but LA...
Dictator ship making sure he stays in power and looks good!
And add this. Now they are prosecuting looters to the fullest extent of the law, but when the illegals were looting stores and running stores out of business, they got a slap on the wrist. It's all two-faced political rhetoric to direct attention away from Gruesome Newsom's failures.
Ignorance is bliss
California deserves them and the fires.
