1 yBeen in more than my share already, probably😅
Here’s the thing: this ain’t an action movie. And I live in America, where our average everyday citizens can flip in an instant and become a murderous lunatic, drunk off of gun courage. Very dangerous to try to have an honest fistfight in this country. People are so scared of getting beat up that they’d rather shoot you than fight honorably, and all they have to do is claim “I feared for my life” and they might get off the hook in court. The more ready someone is to fight, the more likely they have a gun. This day and age, people are only getting softer, and so more and more guns get carried🙄🤦♂️
But yeah, like I said, this is real life and not the movies. There are scenarios where you might be able to box your way out of it, or MAYBE you trust that you’re going to get a 1 vs 1 with no funny business. But honestly, that’d have to be a planned fight, like “meet me at the flagpole after school a 3 o’clock”, lmao, you don’t have many of those as an adult.
Any type of sudden thing with a stranger, the best play is not to fight, unless you absolutely have to. And if you have to, fight to run, if that makes sense. There’s nothing to be gained by having a start-to-finish fight. At best, you get the KO and you’re cool on the internet for a week if someone happened to record it. There’s no cash prize…. back the guy off of you and then break out ASAP.
There’s no shame in running, as long as you didn’t instigate the situation or deserve to be confronted and taken to task. The machismo in me is like “hell naw, lay that guy out for a nap every time”, but these are the reflexes from the dumbest parts of the brain that I need to withstand😝

Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yI never run. I didn't say I'd win, but I never run. I think this mentality has kept me out of a few fights. Because most guys don't want to fight. They just want to beat their chest. And I'll do everything I can to avoid a fight. If the guy needs to feel like the bigger guy I'll give him that. But I will tell him in no uncertain terms that if he does take a swing at me he better knock me out. Because I promise you if he doesn't i will finish it.
Luckily though I haven't really been in a fight since Jr. High. So I've avoided most confrontations as a adult. Which is the way it should be.

You need to face the person down. It is a pretty rare person but some guys just want to fight. Last time for me, this guy wanted to fight me for the girl I was with :). Mostly though if somebody is angry with you, then you have done something wrong like chatting up their girl or knocking their beer.
Be careful of other guys beers is my golden rule.10 Reply- 6.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
1 yOne does not scuffle in the street like a stray dog fighting over a bone. It's something only the gutter classes participate in. I will let you degrade yourself ranting and raving before cutting you down with a well placed comment, and should you physically attack your humiliation will be swift and painful.

yeah. i will need them to sign a disclosure because i don't see the point in this type of combat.
Well, if you are in good shape, running can be an excellent tactical maneuver. A quarter-mile down the path, when you are just feeling warmed up, he might be wheezing from all the cigarettes and beer. Then you turn around and let him have it.
On a more serious note, running is often a smart choice because you never know what he has in his pocket. On the other hand, you might have something in your pocket.10 Reply
1 yOnly if I knew I could take them. If I seen it was a big bitch I wouldn't chance it but a bunch of skinny bitches are easy. Especially all the experience I have from fighting my older sister and her skank friends.

Anonymous(18-24)1 yI'm 4ft6 and weight about 6 stone id probably run as fast as my little legs could carry me. A fat black woman punched me at a basketball game, claimed I'd stood on her new shoes. Knocked me on my ass, her and her friend were standing over me kicking me. They stopped after my boyfriend laid them both out and their boyfriend's.

1 yI think it depends on the situation. If there are a dozen people, I'd probably make a run for it! lol... But if just one-on-one, I think I'd fight it out unless it were Dwayne the Rock Johnson or something! How about you?

I'd fight and run as soon as I find the right moment. Lol!

Anonymous(30-35)1 yprobably run since I can outrun most people
I'm not allergic to combat but it'll cause a lot of unnecessary trouble, getting witnesses involved, getting cops involved, lawsuits etc. regardless of whom is right or wrong
definitely fighting with my life on the line though

1 yMy time has passed to get myself into a street fight. A few months ago it would have been optimal conditions to do so with the help of some fierce and feisty men but no I'm happy with solitude.

1 yI am unlikely to ever be in a street fight bc I run at the first sign of trouble and I have lived in a couple of very tough areas. I also don't go potentially unsafe places without at least 1 big guy with me.
20 Reply 1.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Its contextual. Curiously in the last case I was in I successfully de-escalated the situation by just removing any unnecessary clothing and putting on cut resistant gloves while moving into a more advantageous position.
I guess he realised that we are not in the same weight class?

Run? No , but put myself in that circumstance = No
Australia was pretty crazy for this stuff in the 80s and 90s. No future in fist fighting.
10 Reply921 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Depends what the situation is. If I can just get out of it I'll do that. If there's someone else that's in trouble I might have to fight. But I will take the cool headed option if possible.
20 Reply27.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It depends on the odds. If it was 5 to one I would run like hell.

1 yAt my age, I'd try to deescalate or avoid a fight unless I had no choice. If I had to fight, I would use my Kung Fu skills I've learned from the movies and execute with swift precision and defeat my opponent. Lol
10 Reply I've been in plenty of street fights. Always fight... If really outnumbered fight to kill rather than subdue.
10 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I've been in many street fights and I never ran. I've lost a couple, but won a lot more. Having a head like a bowling ball has definitely worked out in my favor. I've also been in at least 500 fights with my brother and he's a mean bastard.

1 yMuch rather not fight at all. I'm passed those days by a lot but I will defend myself or loved one if I need to.
10 Reply 2.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Just fists and one on one, stand and fight. Weapons or more attackers, strategic withdrawal.
10 Reply11.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Run if I could since there are no winners in a street fight.

I am reminded of the guy last year who pointed a weapon at me in a parking lot for no apparent reason (it was not a robbery). There was not much I could do so I talked to him, and after awhile, he began talking as well. We had a decent conversation if a bit strained, and after awhile he went on this way as did I.
Much better than being macho.
