Where did the trillions of dollars of infrastructure money go that Dems pushed through?

This is the Gay Street Bridge in Knoxville, one of Knoxville's better known landmarks besides the Sunsphere at the World's Fair Park. Last year, inspectors noticed a dangerously large gap in one of the supporting structures, prompting closure. They will only be able to open this bridge to pedestrians later this year or early next year.

During the Xiden administration, the city was denied funding for a pedestrian bridge.

Meanwhile, urban decay has been growing everywhere. And it is not just Knoxville. I have not noticed much positive growth, except for high-density apartments and infrastructure that lags behind to accommodate influx of people. Hospitals have shut down more than newer ones built.

There are still many areas throughout Tennessee and the rest of the nation that lacks adequate emergency services. Many small volunteer fire departments and ambulance services are failing.

Let's ask ourselves, have we really seen much infrastructure improvements or even new thriving cities formed for that matter?

I was appalled by the leftists' leadership over most of these past 15 years. I am hoping Trump will make a difference someway somehow.

... Wait.. You think that amount of dollars is a lot of money for infrastructure renovations? Its not. First of all, most of USAs infrastructure, including roads, bridges, water dam, water pipes etc.. were all built during a single period of time. That means they are all going to break down at the same time as well. That happens to be NOW. America has NOT been keeping up with upkeep either which makes things worse.

Last I heard there was around 43,000 bridges that were "structurally deficient" alone but I digress. If we take Tenseness alone it would cost 6 billion dollars just to repair all the deficient bridges. If you want to replace them however? Oh boy you are going to have to pay out of your nose. We are talking trillions upon trillions upon trillions of dollars. I think I saw an estimate for replacing 4,579 bridges which would cost an estimated 32 trillion dollars. And that is just the worst of the bridges.

Then we have other parts of the infrastructure where Biden also split the funding to such as water pipes which USA still has a scary amount of lead piping in the system. It would cost an estimated 45 billion dollars just to rip that health hazard out of the ground and replace it, not to mention actually replacing the aging water and sewage infrastructure.

Then we have the roads.. and trains.. and harbors.. and airports.. and.. well you get the idea. Infrastructure is a bottomless pit that you throw money into and part of Americas curse is that the cost of maintaining the system all comes as a giant big lump sum. Far bigger than America could even possibly pay and require more work than the workforce could even hope to keep up with. In other words, America is kind of fucked.

For the record, the total US national debt is 36 trillion dollars. The cost of fixing only the critical infrastructure issues would blow that number out of the water.

But some of this is just maintenence and upkeep. If you let it get too bad, it is difficult to recover from that.

I agree. Someone should have done something about this 30+ years ago.. but they did not. And no, its not just maintenance and upkeep. This infrastructure was made by people without education or understanding of engineering and modern physics. They were literally soldiers coming home from fighting a world war and needing a job. What they did was impressive and critical for the growth of the country but it HAS to be replaced at some point and done properly. You can only apply so many "patch" jobs on something that is fundamentally insufficient.

When Joe Biden signed that infrastructure bill , he stood in front of a condemned bridge in New Hampshire. That bridge remains closed to this day.
I think that President Trump should stand in front of that bridge when he reads the next group of wasted money.
