I believe it *usually is supposed to mean that a man would explain something to a woman, but he would explain it as if the woman were an absolute idiot, like telling something to a child. That would be annoying if that ever happened to me. However, i dont like how it has been used. Bc now, there are a few women who think it literally just means whenever a man explains them something, and will get mad at you for explaining something, even if you mean it in the nicest ways.
