I can't remember who was in office when they did all the stimulus checks during covid. i think that was trump. Do you think he will be able to send out another one? $5k seems excessive but I sure hope so. It's been a crappy year business wise. Have had too many deadbeat non payers.

It makes sense though. The government wastes a ton of money. Cut back on spending and give that money back to the people. Although we do have a lot of ebt to pay down, so I don't see how that helps that situation..

Putting aside that DOGE is not going to be saving any money and the 5k stimulus is calculated based on what they pretended they could achieve then no. You won't be seeing that. Besides, if they actually save some money then that would just go straight back into the government funding and back to the programs that congress already voted for.

It does not make sense. Congress voted for a budget, that means the government HAS to spend that money in according to the vote. There is no choice not to comply with Congress just because you made some savings, that money is already directed at something.

the money that they are finding has already been spent/wasted, so there is very little likelihood of getting it back, however there will not be any more money going to those people/organizations etc. and that is where the savings will be.

@Fireguy17 Does not change anything. If congress voted for it then that money is still earmarked for that and "saving it" goes against congress.

I would not hold my breath but it might happen. trump is saving billions in waste and corruption and has not investigated the big money wasters like the Military and Treasury dept. I am afraid that when he gets to Ft. Knox he will find all the gold bricks have been replaced by pavers somebody bought at Home Depot and painted gold.

You DO realize that a $5k check to the VAST majority of Americans would do nothing but reduce their debt? It would do zero to stimulate the economy in REAL terms, because if they used it for immediate purchases, they would still have the long term debt, and the spike would be false.

What do you think paying down debt does? Goes back into the economy. How many people own things they probably don't need? Like an atv for example. They probably really don't NEED the atv but bought it anyways

Yeah that was Trump. Trump loves giving out the government's money, so I wouldn't be surprised. I think he might, because I heard a rumor that he might writing everyone a check for their tax money that was used for stuff it shouldn't have been used for. I'm hoping! Free money is always great! They gave out a stimulus check back in 2008 for like $800 I think. It happens, but not often.
