What is TDS really about?

TDS is "Total Dissolved Solids". It is the standard value for water to determine how many minerals are dissolved in the water. It is usually measure in milligrams per liter (mg/L). In the United States, we categorize mineral water based on its mineral content; that is, the mineral water's TDS value.  I am not sure, but MOST every bottle of mineral water in the United States has the TDS value on the somewhere on the label. There are 4 categories: The water is not considered mineral water. 
 TDS is less than 250 mg/L. 
 "Mineral Water" is not permitted on the label. The water is considered "low mineral content" mineral water. 
 TDS is between 250 mg/L and 500 mg/L. 
 The label can say "Mineral Water" but "Low Mineral Content" must also appear on the label. The water is considered as just "mineral water". 
 TDS is between 500 mg/L and 1500 mg/L. 
 The label can say "Mineral Water" and nothing else is required to appear on the label. The water is considered as "high mineral content" mineral water. 
 TDS is above 1500 mg/L. 
 The label can say "Mineral Water" but "High Mineral Content" must also appear on the label. Here are some images of various mineral water bottles. First is ALDI's Pur Aqua Italian Sparkling Water Mineral Water. I often drink this and buy it in 6-packs of 1/2-L bottles because I drink a lot of mineral water (I just finished one of these about 30 minutes ago) but mineral water can be expensive because it is "bottled at the source" (and the source and bottler must appear on the label), so transportation costs can be expensive. This bottled water comes from Italy and is bottled by La Galvanina. Here is a picture of the label of the bottle that I just finished. Notice 3 things: On the lower right is the TDS: 
 "TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLIDS: 330 mg/L". The bottler and source locations are identified in the middle on the right: "BOTTLED BY LA GALVANINA S. P. A. AT VAL DI METI SOURCE... ITALY" On the lower left in a light, low-contrast font is "low mineral content" which, because the TDS of this water is 330 mg/L means the TDS is between 250 mg/L and 500 mg/L margins for the "low mineral content" description that must appear on the label. Next is the very popular Mexican mineral water Topo Chico. According to Coca-Cola who now is the owner of Topo Chico, their analysis gives a TDS of 600 mg/L.  Independent testers gave it a slightly higher value of 630 mg/L. With a TDS of between 500 and 1500 mg/L, it is legally just "Mineral Water" and that's all that appears on the label; they don't put the TDS value on the label. We drink quite a bit of "TC" as well and this is my wife's primary mineral water because it helps her with muscle cramps. We generally buy "TC" in a 12-bottle case of 12-oz glass bottles. It's about $13 at Walmart. Finally, we have Gerolsteiner, the famous mineral water from Germany. Some call it "The Cadillac of Mineral Waters". Gerolsteiner is harder to come by, but it is excellent. I have to go to an upscale grocer to buy it although, amazingly, at $3.09 for a 750-mL glass bottle, it's hardly any more expensive than Topo Chico. I'll buy out the store when I can. According to Gerolsteiner's website which is like a mini-encyclopedia on mineral water, the TDS for Gerolsteiner is 2479 mg/L.   That is WAY over the 1500 mg/L minimum for "high mineral content" mineral water. Thus, Gerolsteiner earns the right to put "High Mineral Content" on the label for its bottles as you can see below. It's important to know this which comes from Gerolsteiner's excellent website: No two mineral waters are the same: the layers of bedrock that the water has flowed through in its source region determine the amount and composition of natural ingredients in the mineral water. The level and type of mineralization in each water in turn determines the taste of that mineral water. SO, IN SUMMARY.. .. To answer your question, that's what TDS is all about.  TDS -  Total Dissolved Solids  - is the measured value of the mass density of minerals dissolved in water.  A water can be categorized based on its TDS value into one of these 4 categories: just water (TDS < 250 mg/L) low mineral content mineral water (250 mg/L ≤ TDS < 500 mg/L) just mineral water (500 mg/L ≤ TDS < 1500 mg/L) high mineral content mineral water (1500 mg/L ≤ TDS) For more information about mineral water, consider checking out my MHO for this question:

TDS is what Trump cult members label those who are not willing to join the cult. They "think" it describes people who are irrationally against the Orange Idiot Fuhrer, but it REALLY describes those who blindly and ignorantly follow and believe whatever he says.

Like everything in maga world, it's the opposite of what is the truth. Trump Derangement Syndrome is what any follower suffers from. So far, there is no known cure. Facts don't work, science doesn't work, common sense doesn't work, truth certainly doesn't work.

There is a NEW theory that when these cult members lose their government jobs, or Medicare and Medicaid coverage, or their medicine costs skyrocket, or their food costs do not come down, that they MAY recover. It's just a theory, but it seems likely to be proven wrong.

What it's about is that conservatives wanting to deny their responsibility for accepting what Trump is doing to this country and so they toss on that label to anyone who disagrees with them so they feel better about their fallacies. TDS could really apply both ways in the sense that those who love him are deranged and those who oppose him are made fun of for it.

But go ahead, label me as having TDS. I'm not a liberal, just I know bullshit where I see it.
