Why do people buy cars they can't afford?

You work at McDonald's. They end up owing like $500 a month for 6 years to pay it off, plus insurance, gas, and maintanence

So it's nessesity by how we build our city's and actively punish public transportation.

So all nessesitys have been growing more expensive while luxury goods have been dirt cheap. Back in the day long distance call for an hour guessing $250 is now free of intrest $2000 phone payment, unlimited internet to video call someone endlessly accross the globe and the equivalent to $100+ cable with some video subscription.

Also something to mention used cars are somehow more expensive then new cars. So everything in the market is completely ass backwards and dosen't make sense. Same thing is happening to housing where renting is more expensive then owning.

End stage capitalism is a bitch and a half to pay for. While the richest get to buy his way to world leadership.

We live in an toxic form of a Capitalist economy based on irrational consumption. People are bombarded with marketing 24X7 and frankly a lot of people are VERY susceptible to peer pressure and a craving for the approval of others. "If I have a BMW, the chicks will swoon over me". No they won't. But people want to believe the can buy their way to happiness with material possessions. There is no cure for stupid or insecurity.

Because there are a lot of materialistic people. People that want to impress others when in reality they struggle with payments. Some people just aren't smart about how they spend money, it's sad that people end up also losing their homes due to high payments instead of just settling for somewhere small and comfy, because it's the "American dream' to own this and that and that and then people just become stressed out that they end up not enjoying life anymore
