Depends on what you call losing... still a powerful nation like Russia is struggling to make any headway against a much weaker opponent. For very small gains they lose substantial amounts of material and soldiers. Their military has been proven to be a bit of a paper tiger. They rely on overwhelming artillery to make any progress. Their economy is in tatters. But they have gained some territory... but at a huge price.

Historically Russia has always been trash when it comes to war in terms of physical conflict. They usually win wars because of some Gimmick. Like Napoleon was kicking their asses even though Russia had an advantage. And same thing with Cold war like how they defeated the USA with MAGA and Trump. But in terms of physical conflict in war they have always been bad.

It's basically Russia vs the world, via Ukraine. So Russia is effectively holding off everyone else.
