You have a lot of transformation of territory over time throughout Europe and America. I assume you're referring to the modern state borders which exist today. If so, that would be true. You could actually say it's later than that. It's all about the context of what is being taught. That said, the associated kingdoms go back over a thousand years.

Britain as a state didn't exist until 1707, you could argue 1604 when King James of Scotland became king of England and Ireland after the death of Queen Elizabeth 1st.

Germany as a state is younger than the United states being unified in only 1866.

The United States wasn't a state in 1783 after kicking the British out.

France wasn't really a country until 1453 when the British were kicked out
