Yes, there are people jealous of others for financial reasons. I remember in high school, we did an art assignment, and one stand out student produced a piece of art work that was four times more impressive than the second best student in the class. Nobody congratulated her for it, instead, 25 people in every class gathered together to talk about how ugly her art work was and how she must have cheated by using forbidden tools to create her art project so that she could do it better then everybody else. Jealousy is way more common than people think.

I think that's a partial observation of human nature (envy) and a psychological reaction that is perhaps indicative of people who are depressed. IT'S possibly a sign that the rewards of modern living are not living up to the expectations of citizens.
