China called Trumps bluff and Trump caved. Simple as that really. China said originally that they would not negotiate with USA while these tariffs were still put on them and they meant it. Fast forward to today and Trump has tried every trick in the book to start negotiations while being stonewalled on every attempt. This is just another example of him having to back down and its not the first nor the last. China got Trump by the balls and they are going to extract concessions while making Trump thank them for the privilege.

Because his stupid tariff strategy is failing catastrophically (just as anyone could have predicted) and he's desperate to limit the massive damages to the US economy that he's solely responsible for.

That's what some idiot advisor or cabinet member said in the midst of praising the Cheetoh. Meanwhile, what happened during the time in between; alienated all trade partners, lost sales of soy beans, beef, row crops to major buyers, caused a 40% immediate drop-off in the $1.2 Trillion dollar tourism industry, caused farmers to seek bankruptcy projection due to lack of subsidies and lack of migrant workers.

The art of the deal! Scale back on tariffs he imposed in the first place, then call it a great deal. Trump is the kind of guy that puts out a fire he started, then calls himself a hero. China broke him. He gave in. He bluffed and they called it. Funny, he and his cult said they didn't need Chinese junk. Well if they didn't need it then why lower the tariffs at all? Thought they all wanted to make their own clothes and toys and circuit boards? Cut the cord. They need to live up to their rhetoric about not needing other countries for anything and actually have the balls to follow through with it. I'm not holding my breath though.
