I understand where you're coming from but you have to allow space for innovators to profit off of their innovations for a limited time. I think current patent law is absolute insanity in the advantages conferred and the longevity they give to corporation for generics or what have you.

That said I am absolutely for a wealth tax for billionaires as well as I find inherited wealth an anthema to good government and society

You're aiming too low. We should implement a wealth tax in addition to a top income tax rate of 90%. Out top rate used to be 90%. And yes billionaires are a threat to national security. They just overthrew the US government in a bloodless coup by buying politicians who then made bribes (dark money) legal. They are economic terrorists.

If you mean Billionaires like Bill Gates then Yes they are National Security threats especially when he insists in getting involved in fields he has no expertise in.
As for increasing the tax they pay, do you honestly think they'll stay in a country that will tax them at 50%? just have a look at what happened in the UK when a government said it was going to increase the Tax on Billionaires, said Billionaires left the UK so fast you could see vapour trails.
