There is no specific number that qualifies as genocide. The definition of Genocide involves violence against people because they happen to be part of a certain group (such as race) for the purpose of eliminating said group.

South Africa is a very violent nation with nearly ten times as many murders per capita as the US (which is itself about 5x more dangerous than EU countries). There's no evidence that the murders were about race rather than where the money was.

Some of the people Trump was claiming were South African were not. When Trump claimed that there were hundreds of crosses put up for hundreds of murdered South African farmers, he was lying/misinformed, they were there for one family. It was a pack of white supremacist lies.

Do people get killed in South Africa? Yes, at an even higher rate than in the US. All people. All colours. Not just white farmers.
