I see this picture on social media every so often...

How many of them really believe this and where does this idea come from?
Here is what I see happening.
- Conservatives rallying behind no less than four former Democrats in, Donald Trump, RFK, jr., Elon Musk, and Tulsi Gabbard.
- Republicans have softened on abortion. For instance, the 2016 RNC platform mentions abortion 35 and the sanctity of life in this regard such three times. The 2024 platform just mentions late term abortions, and only once.
- On LGBT issues, the 2016 RNC platform formally defines marriage as between one man and one woman four times. The 2024 platform simply says "the sanctity of marriage", and again, just once. Donald Trump was also the first Republican candidate to enter the White House supporting same-sex marriage.
- Conservatives, from what I've seen, are now less enthusiastic about going to war and the death penalty.
On the other hand, on abortion, the left went from "it's a personal matter, leave the poor girls alone" and "safe, legal, and rare" in 2007 to "Shout Your Abortion" in 2015. How many left-wingers can you think of who have shifted to the right on LGBT issues, climate change, universal healthcare, immigration, and such?
So again, where is the left getting this idea that they've compromised on everything and are practically indistinguishable from the Moral Majority of the 1980s? And how many of them actually believe this anyway?
