Trump is planning a huge military parade to celebrate his birthday in June.

Donald Trump did not serve in the military during the Vietnam War. He received multiple student deferments while attending college and later received a medical deferment.

I can understand why he dodged the draft because many other young men also did that during that period in time because the Vietnam war was an absolutely unjust conflict that nobody but the rich supported. An awful lot of people who dodge the draft went to Canada to escape the US in the tyranny of forced servitude in the armed forces and to escape being forced to fight in a totally unjust war. So I cannot criticize this, not even for Trump.

On the other hand, his sudden disrespect and scorn for members of the armed forces these days is completely inexcusable and honestly quite disgusting.

President Trump is celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US Army. Trump did pull some strings to getout of serving in the military. All rich kids did the same thing. The song "Fortunate Son" from the 70s describes this.

President Trump is known for supporting the military. Th vast majority of people in the military voted for him. Recruitments which were in decline when Biden was president have suddenly met of surpassed their quotas when President Trump was elected and he appointed Pete Hegseth as Sec of Defense.
