Super unnecessary and fundamentally goes against Trump's claims about reducing the deficit, but a lot of his policy seems to be turning out that way: reduce in small but poorly evaluated and possibly harmful ways, while still increasing overall spending.

I also feel like the display distracts from the actual purpose of honoring the troops, past and present. Especially because of how it coincides with his birthday. Even if it's 100% a coincidence, it looks awful on the international scale because it's so much in line with practice of historical dictatorships. There's no way someone in the room didn't point that out when it was being discussed and you can't convince me that there aren't better, less problematic ways to support & celebrate our military.

no, I agree with a lot of what he says and does, but I see no need for this given we already have 4th July parades and could overlap anything on that day. Everyone knows we have an advanced military, we don't need to flaunt it. They also know they can beat us... they did in Vietnam, Korea. China is not scared other than avoiding conflict.

So no, it's a waste of $ when we need to bring our debt levels or at least deficit down.
