What I got from the article is that Israel needs the U. S. a lot more than we need them. They are still kind of clueless on who to put in as the new president when the Trump administration comes to an end, but they are pushing for a Democrat. I believe you'll soon see maybe a couple of potential candidates emerge in the coming months. Bernie will push for AOC, which still could be an option for them. I think she's the perfect puppet because she's not that intelligent. They need someone they can manipulate.

Anyway, they are more frightened of losing our support than walking down the street getting hated on. War brings people together and they are a tight knit bunch when they need to be. I don't see this "war" going away anytime soon. The next couple of years will be interesting and terrifying to watch. What do y'all think?

I started to slowly become un-brainwashed in the '90s. I gradually went from supporting Israel and thinking it was a victim to realizing that it is evil.
Over the ensuing decades, I have read many books on the subject and become even more certain in my negative opinions.

Opposition to that vicious entity is rapidly growing as more and more people learn the truth of its past and what it continues to do in the present.

Unfortunately, it has power over our government even though a majority of citizens want to end support.

im not sure support is all they want to end. but don't convince me to defend your holy land/war. you can move out of harms way. you haven't asked to move and you offer nothing in return for protection and billions of dollars. and you couldn't stop an attack that you knew was coming that started this whole thing?

There was NEVER unconditional support for Israel. It was highly controversial from the start and that never changed.

The formation of Israel was mainly a European thing. The US BARELY backed it. But it was a mistake. Backing Israel has been nothing but trouble. The world would be one hell of a lot better place if Israel was never formed.

i need to clarify. unconditional U. S. A. governmental support we've had for them for 30 years.

Yes, the US government has supported Israel for the most part. But it has never been a large majority who did so, right from the start. The US was not even a strong advocate for creating Israel in the first place.

Consider the deal that Carter struck. He was pretty neutral and gave both sides some enticing offers. It was a good bit of diplomacy. And amazingly it has lasted. If he had taken sides he could never have struck that deal.

OK, yea maybe I'm being nitpicking about the wording. Whether it's unconditional or not, I think support for Israel is waning.

i wish i wasn't lazy. i've seen a couple of talks by a professor addressing the issue and some jew/rabbi using those exact words. i googled and this article came up using those exact words. i wasn't alive when carter was in so let's say my entire lifetime at 45 years! and i know it's been longer than that.

but i did read that that unconditional support isn't the gem israel thought it was. we can support and try to keep peace with other countries. and israel doesn't like that. i think that's the reason they bombed yesterday.

All it will take to reverse that course is one awful terrorist attack. And that, is probable... whether done by terrorists or those that want to shift the tide of public opinion.

@EmmiL not even close, they would drop leaflets over the Gaza strip telling the civilians to leave its about to get bombed. Palestinians don't care, about dead civilians or babys. It's why they don't care that Hamas is hiding and setting up military operations in schools and hospitals.

Israel pulled out of the Gaza strip in 2005 in the name of Piece, what did the Palestinians do? Voted in Hamas with the purpose of eradication of Israel.
