Why are the priests in the church always bigots and bigots?

I went to a church today. The priest there told me, "A woman shouldn't go out alone, and also, anyone who didn't vote for Trump can't go to heaven." Is this true?

I'm not personally religious, but I did grow up with religion and I think you simply had the misfortune of interacting with one of the churches that has chosen to promote and interpret only the most harmful aspects of the bible, while neglecting the core values communicated by Jesus. I recommend looking into other churches if you're interested in the religion, but not interested in following the fear mongering and hatred. I know the Episcopalian church where I'm from is much more oriented towards values like charity, community, and kindness. I believe the Presbyterian church is also fairly liberal.

Exactly what church do you go to? As you said "priest," I'm assuming a Catholic? If he actually said that if you didn't vote for Trump you can't go to Heaven, I would strongly advise you to find a different church. That is a lie not supported by the Bible.

I find this funny what was said about the Pope though, although I didn't take the time to check if the math was correct.
