What is so bad about kings?

Generally speaking, what is so bad about a king? Is the idea of a monarchy inherently bad, and if so, why? Or is this just an American thing?

Yes. The idea of a monarchy is inherently bad, both from an ideological standpoint and also if you just focus on results. The reason why monarchies has only survived by abdicating everything that would make them a monarchy in the first place such as power and authority. Every other monarchy has perished because they are objectively worse.

Democracies might not be as theoretically powerful as a monarchy but in exchange for that they are incredibly resilient and very unlikely to fail completely. Going back to a monarchy would be going back to a system we already know is worse. Sounds like a pretty silly thing if you ask me.

Unilateral power by nepotism. Like putting all the weight on one side of the bar till the other side sucker punching you in the jaw.

While USA is a relatively new country it is one of the oldest standing governments. We have this with balance of power.

I get that, but can't that potential be in any form of government? Even ours? Sure, it might not be handed down the same way, but there are still powerful families in American politics. The Kennedys, the Clintons, the Bidens? And now the Trumps. I mean, come on, just yesterday a load of ignorant clowns with nothing better to do spent their afternoons doing that goofy "No Kings" deal. So clearly, people are worried about it here, even if foolishly so.

Plus, I'm also asking this as a Catholic. The Church has canonized as Saints plenty of kings, queens, and other members of royalty and nobility. There have been plenty of them who took their roles very seriously, treated their people with kindness and benevolence, and were generous with the poor and needy. So though I'm not exactly a gung-ho monarchist, I'm to say the least a little skeptical about all this anti-king silliness.

Plus, in line with what I said above, I'm one of those who doesn't mind throwing out "Christ is King".

We are all people equal to each other right. A king out of nowhere says god loves me more is pretty evil thing to do.

I should say I'm more agnostic. While there is a higher power it's not possible for a single sect to claim the ultimate truth of the universe. We can be students for a life time and only learn a fraction of it. To claim you have the final say is putting yourself before god in God's name.

To learn enough to understand how little you know is an important fundamental belief of mine. So a king is antithetical to my beliefs.

The problem becomes kings are until death. You get a bad one you stuck with him, until either he dies gets unalived or another greedy person raises and army and fights a war possibly in your city or town

It’s not inherently bad.
Unfortunately people have a long, tragic history of abusing power. Not everyone with great power abused it. Enough did to make those wise to history rightly trepidatious about monarchies and dictatorships.
That said, the current rhetoric about “no kings” is nonsense. Just the lunatic left being increasingly ignorant and hypocritical.

I think it’s Kings or somewhere close to Kings but anyway the Israelites were wanting a King to be more like other peoples around them. I've actually seen the rise are the appreciation for Kings or Monarchs.. Monarchs are essential ownership of a place or land, and when somebody owns something, they take care of it.. Better than any politician ever would..
