When are we going to recognize FoxNews as a dishonest propaganda arm of the American right wing?

Please discuss this in a vacuum, not “well, CNN and MSNBC do X/Y/Z…” I don’t want cop-outs and pivots and deliberate diversions, I’m asking this to be addressed stand-alone.

It was discovered this weekend during Trump’s embarrassing flop of a military parade to fellate himself on his own birthday, under the guise of it being the Army’s birthday (can’t wait for the $45M birthday parades for the Navy and Marines’ 250th birthdays this fall too!…. Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?), that constant disinformation agent FoxNews added a little something to make things seem more successful than they were in reality….

You can skip to about the 4:00 mark to get to the meat of it….

For those who can’t or won’t watch, it’s a juxtaposition of the same moment of a speech Trump gave at the event. In the PBS video, you can literally hear birds chirping (and the quiet is consistent with a myriad of other videos of the parade) as he greets the crowd.

THEN, the FoxNews broadcast has clearly (very poorly) added the sound of the roar of a large crowd, which cuts off immediately and simultaneously. Just lmfao.

Let us not forget that FoxNews opted to settle out of court in the zero hour a few years back, to the tune of nearly $800 MILLION, likely because they didn’t want to go to trial and be further exposed for their fraudulence. In leaked texts from the discovery part of the legal process, evidence emerged of all three of FoxNews’ most influential nighttime talking heads (Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham…literally their entire primetime slot), sharing personal views about Trump and/or his actions that were in DIRECT CONTRAST to what they literally said on their shows, in some cases, that very same day. All of this in service of “The Big Lie”: the almost-certainly laughably false claim that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump by nefarious Democrat actors. Only a few characters left to work with, but at some point this is just too laughable to continue.

Folks, in the interest of integrity…. it looks like I got this one wrong. Not the old stuff about the on-air personalities’ texts, but according to Snopes, which I’ve trusted in the past on the hundreds of negative fact checks on Trump, there were separate audio feeds, and Fox’s apparently picks up the cheers. I still don’t understand the abrupt cut-off of the applause, but I’ll take Snopes on their word here.

But it’s entirely possible to be Independent and liberal. “Independent” doesn’t imply centrism, it just means you don’t subscribe to either party. If there was a party left of the spineless, corporate-ass Democrats who I can’t believe you guys even fix your mouths to call “radical Marxists”, I’d maybe subscribe to them. But there’s no viable party that aligns with me. The Democrats just aren’t monsters on a social level, and that’s my number one concern, creating an environment where the most powerful demographics of Americans don’t have an automatic leg up on, or even avenues to deliberately discriminate against, any of the less powerful demographics. Oh, I totally support that. Or not really, I think news should be non-partisan, straight down the middle, all facts, no opinion. But within the current media landscape as it is today, yes, I’m ok with that.

My issue at that point is a greater human character issue, where things that I would consider undebatably inappropriate and indecent from a moral standpoint. Like I’m just incredulous that people come to the table in seriousness and with a smile on their face with some of these social positions, like they aren’t egregiously intolerant for no good reason. I just thought we were better humans than what MAGA conservatives seem to think are totally reasonable solutions to social problems, like on a “how do you sleep at night?”-level of ghoulish. It’s not just debate over tax rates, you know? It’s treating certain human lives like they matter less or not at all based on some political bullshit, and that could just never sit well with me. That’s simply monstrous and I can’t believe it’s up for debate.

Everyone is on the take, that is definitely a problem. I’d just say that Pfizer is probably the reason my dad is still alive today. He got Covid, after being vaccinated, and the doctors say that was likely the difference between him living and dying. I’m also in the camp that thinks vaccine skepticism is lunacy, to be honest, just based on medical information and actual conversations I’ve had with professional doctors and scientists, and their opinions hold way more weight for me than some goof like RFK Jr who as absolutely no training or expertise. Like he’s basically just a lawyer who defended some of these goofy “cellphones give you brain cancer” type of lawsuits, and through his research for that, he’s mistaken himself for an expert.

I have a ton of problems with Big Pharma, it’s not to say they don’t do wrong. But when it comes to vaccines, and not some weirdo medicine they want to push on people for profit (which I don’t believe the covid vaccines were….. and credit where due, BIG shout out to Trump for Operation Warp Speed, and directing our people to develop the vaccine as quickly as reasonably possible.

I don’t think that’s true at all. Not the overall idea, but that FoxNews is just doing the same as everyone else. My dad watches FoxNews all the time, and I’m constantly floored by the reality-defying things they say. We’re not just taking about “CNN showed too many peaceful protestors and not enough looters”, this is legitimately changing the nature of the footage, not just cleverly misrepresenting it. That is SHOCKING to me, and I politely invite you to show me other examples paramount to this one from a MAJOR news network. This is like debating the color of the sky. The left says “the sky is blue.” It used to be that the right would be like “not so fast…. sometimes the sky is gray, or orange, or pitch black.” And then we could go back and forth about how clouds do or don’t count as “the sky”, or how dawn/dusk and nighttime are natural phenomena that just affect the way we see it, etc, etc, etc, “in a vacuum, the sky would be X color.” But MAGA showed up and was just like “nah, the sky is plaid, and I won’t hear anything to the contrary.” How do I even engage with that brand of lunacy?

The country was doing just fine. The idea that everything is on fire is all part of your fabricated MAGA fan fiction reality. We economically recovered from the pandemic faster than any other country, yet MAGA told us it’s never been worse. Like that simply is demonstrably untrue, to anybody who studied college level economics. You guys all believe Trump’s story on what America is, and it’s wrong and fucking insane. Should’ve done more for LGBTQ rights, should’ve stood up to Putin stronger in 2014 when he went into Crimea. Everyone after Bush should’ve pulled us out of Afghanistan immediately, so that was a fail too.

But my favorite thing about Obama was he’d just pop up in the news every couple of weeks, quietly doing his job. I don’t like this waking up every morning waiting to hear what stupid shit Trump has pulled today. I can’t think of anything traitorous Obama did that’s real. That’s what I want in a president: quiet, humble, low-key, not stirring the pot or shaking things up. Hold the fort for 4-8 years, don’t make any big changes because we’re already #1 for good reason, and pass it to the next person to do the same.

Biden, somewhere in the ‘C/C+” range, maybe as high as B-. The important thing to remember about him is that he was the victim of a very deliberate smear campaign by Trump and the very FoxNews I’m talking about. I’m not even a huge Biden fan per se, this isn’t me defending Joe Biden for any other reason than defense of reality against false narratives. He was too old, that’s for sure. But a President is also the sum total of their administration, so even if he’s asleep at the wheel, all I care is that there’s not some lunatic conservative pushing their fucked up agenda. It’s not about politics, it’s about moral decency, and the worst aspects of conservatism I just find to be based in absolute moral bankruptcy, and I don’t give passes on that just because they might be good people in some other facet of their lives. Be like 90%+ good, otherwise you’re just kind of a bad person. That’s my enemy, bad people with bad worldviews, not politicians. And I don’t want them killed, I want to help them find the good in themselves, because most of them have a good amount of it, but they let stupid bigotries or irrational and unwarranted life-fears get in the way. And that’s sad to me.

Oh, but yeah, Biden…. Afghanistan withdrawal was messy but I’ll gladly spend 13 American lives of people who signed up for a job where you know you might die if it gets us out. I say that with all respect to the dead, but I mean, let’s have real talk here for a minute, you know?

Honestly, my biggest problem with Biden was his age. I don’t think our futures should be steered by people who won’t be a part of it. Even voting…. maybe after 75 you should be out, because you likely won’t be here to have to deal with the results. But Biden is to my right politically, he’s a moderate (INSANE when Biden and Kamala get called radical leftists, that’s far from the truth, and one of the telltale signs that MAGA objections are based in nothing), but the agenda was good enough, and contrasted to the MAGA agenda, it’s the greatest fucking thing I ever heard in my life.

The MAGA agenda, despite the name, makes America WORSE. What has gone right so far? The only thing you could claim is if you’re a sick fuck who is gleeful to see immigrant families torn apart over some paperwork. Everything else has been an unmitigated disaster. Still waiting on those low gas and grocery prices. The tariffs have been a disaster and the world is laughing at us. “90 deals in 90 days”…. do we have any REAL deals yet? China and UK are temporary at best. Biden handed a pretty good economy to Trump (don’t tell FoxNews that, though, lmfao) and he’s bungled it. He could’ve done NOTHING and we’d be better off. Our former allies are no longer our friends, we’re losing out on intelligence-sharing programs because they no longer trust us. We have possibly the most unqualified and incompetent cabinet I’ve ever seen because he wants loyalty this time, not adults in the room who push back against his idiocy.

From a couple therapy's standpoint, it's not, because it's about making progress for that therapy. As in making people vent, release. It is necessary for the next step which will be: Standing back, in a more emotionally relaxed situation, listen to each other and see if this couple carries what it takes to pursue. That's why couple therapy does not fix couples, because it's not its point, its point is to reveal what both individuals were hiding and have them look at it, seriously. To have them think about what they really want from each other.

Maybe they'll get back together, maybe they'll believe it's not worth it. It's not the therapist's place to judge this. The job consists in helping them both to feel better with themselves, individually. To help them both finding a way to live a better life. Couple or not.

I’m not a fan of any major news outlet, especially post-election, because half of them folded in fear of MAGA. That’s its own brand of lack of integrity. I have a HUGE problem with that, so that’s why my question isn’t “Aren’t CNN and MSNBC so much better than FoxNews?”

But in fairness, I’m still waiting for the exposure of anywhere to be piping in artificial crowd noise, or using old videos of other incidents to portray them as current ones, like they did with empty shelves during Covid or recycled looting spree videos presented as new occurrences.
