Well with homeownership becoming more and more impossible for millennials and gen z with having mountains of student loans and credit card debt to survive, it's become quite more unrealistic for many. Not to mention how expensive it is to own a home today.

It has nothing to do with advice, its the core of that saying. The whole point of the "American dream" is that America used to be the country where you had the best chance of success if you wanted to work hard, invent something or start a business.

This is no longer the case. While you can certainly still become rich and successful in USA, it would be easier and you would likely achieve better results if you did the exact same thing in a different country.

You can't bring up the "American dream" without bringing up that its about choosing USA to be the country you try your best in, even if it means immigrating to it. And as I just said, that dream is now dead.

This is one issue I believe you are clueless on. I worked in the tech industry. I worked on projects for multi-billion-dollar companies. As it stands today, I have been unable to regain my footing in my industry and the job market is dismal in tech.

You say "own computer support business". Yeah, join the club with all the other hundred of thousands unemployed in tech compounded on top of all the Indians and H1B visas holders that will do this for a fraction of the cost.

I swear the older generations have become so jaded. This is the job climate today where if you have a well-paying job, consider yourself lucky. There is no more job hopping. Applying for a job? Join the other thousands of applicants being sifted through AI SAP software.

@IHaveRespawned I just retired a year ago. I was the network administrator for a medium sized company. It was a good job. I get emails from headhunters and some of these jobs actually rsound pretty good.

It was a catastrophic failure on both sides. Politicians are not on the everyday American's side. This should be clear by now.

The left ruined it for the past 17 years with social engineering, identity politics, DEI, PC culture, double standards, the bashing of masculinity and men, socio-political "revolutions", astronomical spending, and facilitating invasions of illegal aliens from foreign and broken nations.

The political right, especially in my state, have fallen into the trap of focusing on countering leftist social ideologies and turning a blind eye to the real critical issues and disasters awaiting to happen.

There is no moderation anymore, just the two extremes with drastic reforms and reshaping of everything.
