We don't give everyone who suffers from depression a lobotomy so why should we give everyone who has gender dysphoria "gender reassignment surgery"?

So called "gender reassignment surgery" is it the lobotomy of gender dysphoria. Once you have there is no going back.

Why are some people so anxious to push people who have gender dysphoria into this deforming surgery? In particular why do they want to do this to children whose brains have not yet even developed enough to understand what they want in life or what is happening to them? It seems like some kind of bizarre criminal fetish to me to do this to a child.

Yet there is so much bizarre propaganda out there directed directly at children seemingly designed to push them into this surgical procedure that many are finding out later ruined their lives and subjected them to enormous and excruciatingly painful regret.

What kind of civilized society would do such a thing to its children?

This practice reminds me of female genital mutilation that takes place in barbaric cultures. If adults choose this for themselves that's one thing. I'm okay with having any kind of surgery you want as a consenting adult. But giving this kind of deforming surgery to children seems barbaric to me and should carry severe criminal penalties for anyone who performs it.

I don’t understand it either. I think it’s more of a conditional state of mind. There would be no way for a person to know what it is to be the opposite gender. What we are and what we wish we were are two entirely different things. Honestly I feel like it’s a manageable condition, and any dr that performs a surgery like that is doing a disservice to humanity. This isn’t even a gay/straight issue, it’s an identity crisis issue.
