My daily life would be significantly improved (it would eliminate problems which significantly impede my daily life).
Yet some people—even strangers—still INSIST I shouldn't do it. Why?
All I know for sure is, if your mind became truly renewed by the Word of God, you wouldn't be doing any of this period. And this statement comes from someone that spent most of their life as a non believer. In fact, I challenge you to simply pick any book with a collection of healing scripture or about who you are in God and read it each day (it has to be read out loud).
After this, you will not do what you are planning at all because you will truly know who you are in the eyes of Christ. Who we are is far beyond our gender, it reaches to so much depth that no surgery even touches it. No amount of hormones, surgery or any treatments goes anywhere near who we truly are. And a lot of the time, may problems in life are from the unseen world too. I've seen people healed from the Word of God. I've seen personality transformations, instant manifestations, miracles, power and proof of the spirit world. But when I was a non believer, I only relied on man to fix my problems. That is ultimately your mistake. You are turning to creation to fix a problem when the creator that made you, that knew everything about you before you were even in the womb, is not being consulted!
Every hair on your head is numbered but you are turning to those who do not know you or care. That is unwise. And remember. I spent most of my life as a non believer. I've been on both sides...

I am a Christian, I was raised reading scripture aloud every day and still do, and I counciled with multiple pastors and even tried christian-ran conversion therapy before I considered transition at all. It took years of prayer, meditation, and careful study before I found peace with knowing who I am truly and spiritually in Christ. I'm well aware this surgery does not change anything about who I am; I am not getting the surgery for any spiritual or identity reasons. I am getting it for my health, to be a good steward of my body. I would not have taken any steps without being certain I was not acting in sin first.
Reading scripture aloud every day plays a part in the mind being renewed, but it does not mean the mind is renewed. There was a woman that knew the Bible back-to-front and was raised as you just described. She read scripture out loud each day and was raised with it.
But her mind was not renewed because the Word had not got into her heart. She only realized this when she needed healing and it was not working.
But when she was given training of how to access this healing from the spirit then she was healed.

Yes. I already told you I'm Christian. I know reading and praying doesn't save you, but once saved it can certainly help your faith grow and deepen.

Many problems with general things like hygiene. Things you need to do every day can be very difficult, when for most people they are very easy. It can take longer, be more expensive and more tiring, and even cause significant physical pain. Trust me, as someone who has had surgery before I do not take it lightly.

As an adult, if you're absolutely sure about this life-changing decision as having more benefits than costs, then I'd say go for it.
I figure the best thing someone can do if they can't get over the body dysmorphia is to at least pass as well as they can with the gender of their identity.
I would recommend looking at some of the worst-case scenarios just to be sure that you're aware of the risks involved if the professionals didn't already step you through the very worst that could happen.
I've looked at all sorts of possible outcomes, even totally botched surgeries. Those are part of the risks (even though the provider I'm with is reputable).
I think if you're fine with the risks, go for it.
Here in Japan, we have a similar way. Trans hormone therapy and surgery is only available for those 18 years of age or older. I do think that's a very sensible compromise even if it might cause some greater turmoil for those growing up trans. It's just a very cumbersome issue if we offer such options to minors.
We have no Abrahamic type of religious foundation to oppose trans people let alone anyone in the LGBTQ+ community. There's very little social tension as a result.
The one thing we don't do here that I observe in some Western nations is that we don't try to conflate gender identity with biological sex. For example, there is no Japanese approximation of sayings like, "Men can get pregnant too."
Here we have the notion that women are women and transwomen are transwomen and men are men and transmen are transmen, and that might not allow transgendered people to fit in as well as they would ideally like, but I think in practice it leads to far less tension and Japanese have no problem calling a transwoman a "she" or a transman a "he" as a result out of courtesy and basic respect.
I often think the West could benefit from this type of practical compromise so that it's not so heated and polarized in divisive ways which tends to end up hurting everyone and making it so difficult for people to just get along.
Well it is irreversible. If you are changing to a woman just know not many men will want to date you. You will even lose gay guys because they want a guy not a woman. You should really think about trying to love yourself as you are. Instead of changing who you are to pretend to be something you are not. Really make sure you do your research on others who have done it already and you really should do counselling before making such a life altering decision.

I do love myself as I am; the surgery is to make my life less difficult, not to make me a better or different person. And I have researched all the options and had over a year of counseling by multiple people both supportive and unsupportive of trans Healthcare.

It's just a simple removal. No re/construction, so no risk of malfunction or needing additional surgeries in the future.
Is way too risky. Do your research and learn what to expect post op. Also try to find real testimonies of people who have done it and how it changed their life. I hope is not the case but recently I've been seeing a lot of transgender people claiming that they completely regret what they've done and what their bodies went through. It's a lot. Oh, yes I've done a lot of research and listened to people who have had it done. This surgery is actually very safe and performed on people of all genders for a variety of reasons. And the reasons I'm getting it actually have the lowest regret rate out of any. There are people who regret it, but very few for this reason, and usually because their doctors didn't follow standard protocol of how to evaluate and provide trans Healthcare. That's why I'm with a provider that's very familiar with trans care, so they're more likely to know what they're doing and not rush through anything. But yes i have done my own research on what to expect and how to prepare too. I wouldn't want to rush into any surgery unprepared or uninformed.

I have never had a girlfriend or lover who was trans but I am completely open to dating a transwoman. The big issue for me is that I am drawn to femininity. Men who are transitioning have a difficult time being feminine. However, I do know some transwomen who look amazing (very feminine). I don't think you need surgery to be feminine. You could be slender and on hormones for breasts and hip/butt development and get hair removal and you would look very appealing. There was a mtf woman on this site who asked for opinions on her appearance. I thought she looked great. The only real problem with not getting the surgery is that men who date you are likely bisexual. Sorry but str8 guys do not date transwomen. Anyway, bisexual men love to suck cock and go down on vaginas. A bi guy would be disappointed to have sex with you and not be allowed to give you a blowjob.
Taking this to mean generally "you don't need surgery to look attractive and find a partner who likes you," that's very nice I appreciate it. But I don't want a partner, and looks is not the reason for the surgery.
Whatever it is you think you would gain from it you likely won't, if it depends in any way on other people agreeing to behave the way you think they ought to. That's the message they are really trying to convey: they will not play make-believe with an adult asking them to believe something they are already convinced is false.

I'm not worried about the surgery doing that though, because the one I'm getting has been performed on every gender for a variety of reasons for a very long time now. It's extremely safe and successful relative to other surgeries.
Cellular death starts almost immediately because men are not supposed to have high levels of estrogen and women are not supposed to have high levels of testosterone. Various physical effects one is likely to see is weight-loss, mineral deficiency issues, massive levels of muscle atrophy, trouble processing certain kinds of food to name a few. Heavy hair loss organ failure becomes fairly common the longer things go on. Not to mention if you have the surgery to give you a "vagina" you will have keep that wound open for the rest of your life because if it closes which it will because it is a massive gaping wound that your body is trying to heal sending massive amounts of resources to it trying to heal it. It closes you die fairly quickly. There are a few other downsides as well but yeah it's your life do what you want. Unlike the woke left I will at least honor you with an honest answer and inform of the consequences so you can at the very least make the decision while informed
But how soon should you see those things like muscle atrophy, weight loss, organ failure? And does it happen every time, or only sometimes? I know with most medications there is the possibility of bad side effects, but they are not common. It's a risk, not a guarantee. I know several people who have been on hormones for over a decade with no issues—are they exceptions, or are people who get organ failure the exceptions, or does it usually take decades for any negative effects to happen?
I was already informed that taking hormones could cause negative side effects—even very severe ones like you said. But I was under the impression that those effects were rare and if I did experience them, it would quickly be discovered and I would then have to decide whether to keep taking the hormones or stop to stop any problems before they develop into anything serious.
Depends on the person and how healthy they are physically for time frame. That being said I have yet to see a case of those "rare side effects" not showing up. Right now their is a massive effort by the media and by hospitals to suppress detransitioners and to avoid talking about the negatives and in how often they pop up. They make money off you transitioning and they make more when you detransition because you will be on about 10 different pills just in an effort to keep you alive. All humans have both testosterone and estrogen in their systems however the male body is designed to handle high levels of testosterone. The female body is designed to handle high levels of estrogen. Anytime you see it flipped issues typically begin manifesting within a few months the more unhealthy an individual the faster the more healthy the slower. I would give a rough estimate of anywhere from 3-6/7 months before side effects begin to manifest and as time goes on they get worse. It can take years and years for some of the major symptoms to appear at which point it is too late to treat it. They may not display any outward symptoms some people do manage to avoid those but their blood work reports likely are very concerning.
Oh, well in that case I'm okay. You had me worried for a minute there but I've already been on hormones for 9 months and had zero negative side effects. I will make sure to keep an eye out though, and I have to get blood tests done every 3 months to make sure nothing is going wrong, so if anything tests abnormal I will bring it up with my doctor. Yes medical people would make more money if i need more medicine, but I've always been cautious of that. I've been prescribed other medications before and ended up quitting them because the side effects were worse than what it was supposed to help with. I don't take medicine just because of what doctors say. I do my own research and pay attention to how it effects me and whether it actually helps with the problem. Remember hospitals are suppressing that because they need you to reach awful points so they maximize the money they get off you. Yes, they do have to share it, and have been sharing it for the past 9 months. I have been double checking every result to make sure nothing is abnormal. And if they stop sharing it, i will find a different provider who will share it. As I said, I don't fully trust doctors.

Very sure. The goal of the surgery is not to change my sex, make me happy or whole, or change how I or others view myself or reality. It is to make basic daily tasks less difficult.

I seriously doubt that lol. What's more likely is that I die young before I make a will, and my parents bury me and put my birth-assigned name and gender on the tombstone. If I live long enough to assign someone I trust to handle my passing, then I will be cremated and my ashes dumped into a large body of water (preferably the Pacific ocean). Either way i won't care at that point because I'll be dead. Why should I live my fleeting and temporary life worrying about what creeps may think of my body after I die?
