Not surprised. Liberal and Conservative brains are different to the point an MRI has reasonably good predictive capabilities of the person politics. It may not be a liberals fault is my point here.

Conservatives are also cognitive thinkers using A=B, A=C therefore B=C logic. Liberals are hysterical thinkers which means emotional reasoners. That might be why Liberals are far less happy.

I mean, to be fair, it's hard to watch serious injustice in the world and feel comfortable/happy. Liberals/democrats also tend to have more empathy-oriented thinking in general, so they will inherently be more affected by the suffering of those around them than someone who's world view is guided primarily by their own suffering or lack thereof.

And realistically, it's partly just that the Republicans are in power at the moment and are making what Democrats tend to view as deeply harmful changes. If the situation were reverse I imagine the Republicans would have some pretty angry messaging too.

Because we all know how much more moral, ethical, empathetic and enlightened liberals are compared to conservatives. If it wasn't for virtue signaling liberalism wouldn't even exist.

I mean, I didn't say that. They've literally done studies on how liberal and conservative brains think. Liberals are more oriented to empathy and complexity, conservatives are more oriented to fear/safety and predictability. This is pretty generalized of course, but it does track when you talk to liberals vs conservatives about why they choose the way they do. Liberals tend to talk about their broader social sphere or community, and their concerns about how other people, including strangers are treated, while conservatives tend to focus on how policy affects themselves and their most direct circle (close friends or family).

How you consider that morally is up to you. Like, there are plenty of world views that say that you have a duty to yourself or your nuclear family first and foremost, while plenty of others say your duty is to your society or broader moral alignment. Ethics is pretty subjective, that's why the trolley problem exists: to compare how people make ethical judgements.

I didn't say anything about liberals being more "enlightened" or "ethical", just more empathetic, a trait that plenty of people look down on and consider to be a weakness in logical reasoning. So again, the differences are present, how you perceive them is up to you.
