So some bartenders or employees that are properly trained will know and an angel shot is code for moments where you are in danger or concerned for your safety when drinking at bars, where it let's them know they need to take action without creating attention or letting the person know you are onto them, they also have a way to order your code drink in specific ways which lets them know how serious the situation is.

Usually used more by women I assume and it's for when mfs get creepy or weird or endangering at bars.

The problem with code words being publicized widely is there's now unfortunately a good chance that the victim's date also knows what it is. But if done discretely (and the bartender knows about it and is comfortable intervening) it's a good tool to have to get out of uncomfortable or dangerous situations.

I don't think that's true with the public service level of knowing what an angle shot is. I understand the initial inclination but the buddy system over powers creepy people easily.

Normal guy who knows and there date asks for the angle.

Dates not going well. Pay the tab and going to call it a night with a wave goodbye.

Someone else with bad intentions. Angle shot is order. Too many eyes know and you need to bounce FAST.

Its been around a long time , I asked for one in Melbourne CBD when my date was so intoxicated I didn't know what to do , I didn't want to just leave , so the barman got first aid , although he did laugh at me..

That was years ago..

Then I snuck off , when I got home there were 10 very intoxicated abusive messages..

But yeah more meant for females against guys.

I don't go to bars myself. I don't think it's a safe place to go. Ever see the movie "Looking for Mr. Goodbar"? Too many women wind up dead after leaving the bar with a man/men. I remember reading about a woman who left a bar with a couple of guys and the last text she ever made was "I think I'm in trouble!" She was found dead.

Some bars in the UK do an "ask for Angela" scheme which is on the same lined.

Problem is what if your date is aware of the scheme?

Far safer just to stand up and loudly announce he's creeping you out. Goodbye. You'll get enough eyes on him to make sure he doesn't try anything.

You'd have to have amazing lungs for that to make much of a difference in some clubs.

(That's the one I was thinking of in my opinion: "ask for Angela". Probably. It's a pub!)

I haven't heard this made so obvious in bars, but I'm sure every female would know she could ask for help if needed. When I was younger I frequented bars and clubs etc. and stayed out until the early hours of the morning. But now I avoid any trouble by only going out for a meal with friends, and returning home early in the evening.

They have them at a few places around downtown especially at the Mellow Mushroom in my area. I've noticed a few restaurants are putting them in women's restrooms. So it's not just bars, restaurants are getting on the bandwagon on this

That's cool. I've heard about some kind of code before. I don't remember exactly what it was. A hand signal or a spoken code. But anyway, I've seen a reenactment of how they saved a few females.

Also, there was a survey done and most bar staff weren't aware of their responsibilities.
