I read online people who are financially unstable are much more likely to think about suicide

Easy to believe because thats the group of people who often see no way out and no way their life will become less stressful and enjoyable again. The whats the point factor can be high especially if they became poor because of a disasterous event but used to have more wealth.

I think it is a bit more nuanced than being financially unstable. Going from wealthy to bust I could see as an increasing factor when you look at the rate of suicide following the Wall Street crash of 1929.

yes I assume suicide rates are high bc of poverty being an issue.
