My parents didn't implant any racist ideology in me even though they harbored some unconscious racist stereotypes from the times during which they were raised.
But I remember my mom talking about being appalled when she traveled the country after high school in the 1940s and saw separate drinking fountains and restrooms for blacks, and "no coloreds" signs on businesses, and the way blacks were treated. Those stories made an impression on me.
The big game changer for me, though, was when I decided I wanted to learn how to play the guitar. My parents gave me a cheep, Mexican acoustic guitar in 1965 when I was 11.
My dad was a top machinist for a large aerospace corporation and knew an engineer who offered to give me some lessons.
I was surprised when he came to our house. He was a tall, slender black man with a cool goatee. Come to find out, he was a master flamenco guitarist and had traveled to Spain a couple of times to study. He could play anything else on the guitar, as well.
He dazzled us with some crazy flamenco.
He came to our house several times to teach me chords and techniques.
He was kind and patient. And it was obvious that he was more sophisticated than my parents or anyone I had ever met.
He came to our lily white neighborhood to teach me during the height of the civil rights movement and the Watts Riots. He didn't have any chips on his shoulders.
He had become an aerospace engineer and master guitarist during segregation, which seems like quite a feat. Somebody had raised him right.
I came to admire and almost idolize him. I don't know if he realized it, but he was like an ambassador from the black community. I realized that black people weren't inferior to whites. I couldn't possibly be racially prejudiced after meeting Mr. Freeman.
When I was 26, I got handed a job at an auto insurance company. A lot of black people worked in the office in all kinds of positions from clerical to managerial. Many were more educated than me and were really, really nice. I became good friends with several. Neither they nor I even thought about racial differences.
Then, when I got out into the field at that job as a motor vehicle damage adjuster/appraiser, I went to locations all over Los Angeles and met black body shop owners, went to black neighborhoods and met individuals, patronized black restaurants, and got along great with everyone.
I've been friends with several black people outside of work, too. And, as a musician, I've played music with some.
I admire the contributions of African Americans to science, music and culture.
So no, I am not racially prejudiced at all.
I will clarify that I have always had what I think of as 1960s-'70s liberal values. I'm not conservative or Republican. But in recent decades I have come to loathe the Democratic party. And modern liberalism bears little resemblance to my values.
I didn't buy into MAGA enthusiasm because I'm not a political ideologue or gullible sheep. But I guess you could say that I supported MAGA because I did vote for Trump in 2020 and 2024. (I voted independent in 2016 but was relieved when Trump beat Killary.)
I’m neither MAGA nor a racist.
I’m not racist because it doesn’t make sense to me. I loathe ignorance and most prejudice is rooted in it. I like to learn. Once you understand someone, it’s much easier to accept them for their good qualities than to reject them for their bad. I’m certainly not perfect. So i don’t expect the people in my life to be. If i want to be accepted despite my faults and foibles, i have to be willing to accept others.
That said, i recognize the evolutionary biological components that drive racism, sexism and other prejudices of ignorance. I also recognize the value of pattern recognition and profiling. It’s one thing to be open to new people and cultures. It’s something else to be so ignorantly that you leave yourself vulnerable to bad actors from those people and cultures.
Remember the moral of the story of “The Trojan Horse”. Or don’t at your own peril. I’m not going to let you facilitate mine.
Better question would be for you to explain why you think the hosts on the only channel you're allowed to watch, MSNBC, are not racist. Personally, I think that Joy Reid, who is black, is one of the most racist people in the USA. No, her skin color doesn't give her a free pass.
I don't watch MSNBC. This question is a parody question in response to another question from someone else asking MAGA why they are racist. Other question asked MAGA to admit they are racist, this question asks MAGA to admit they're not racist.
Oh, ok. I didn't know
Just because someone supports Trump doesn’t mean they are racist. Some of them are even black or other races believe it or not.
To many Democrats, simply being a Trump supporter automatically makes you a racist. Even if you're not a Trump supporter, your automatically a MAGA racist in many Democrats eyes for not passing their purity test. This past election I had several Democrat friends accuse me of being a closeted MAGA racist for wantong the DNC to pick the nominee through an open convention instead of handing it to Harris who I felt guaranteed a Trump presidency.
My question was a parody of another question asking MAGA to admit their racist. And yes I agree with my question because it essentially asks MAGA to prove the myth that they are racist is just a myth (minus a few who are, and to be fair there are racist on both sides)
That's not proof for Democrats, like Biden "you ain't black if you vote for Trump". Even a majority of Trump supporters pushing for Trump to choose Tulsi, a woman of ethnicity to be his running mate is not enough to convince Democrats most Trump voters are not racist.
Combination of MSM and party leaders. Don't even have to be MAGA to be labeled racist simply disagreeing with a Democrat gets you a racist. As a former Democrat, I got accused of being misogynistic racist for pointing out that Harris couldn't win and that handing her the nomination would result in a trump victory. These accusations by Democrats not only push voters away, they are part of the reason Harris lost.

Why am I not a racist, yes or no. THAT makes a lot of sense!! Did you write that yourself or did mommy help you with it?
I'm not a racist because, UNLIKE DEMOCRATS, I look at people as PEOPLE, NOT skin colours! I couldn't give a flying fuck what colour you are!! As long as you're a civil, honest human being, that's ALL that counts!!!
Choke on that!!
This question is a parody of another question asking MAGA why they are racist as can be seen in the snap shot.
Simply supporting either Republicans or Democrats alone does not make someone automatically racist.
Agreed, but Democrats these days don't see it that way, and trow therm at anyone who doesn't agree with them.
I attempt to be more individual and behaviorial and cultural, but racism can be per ceived or occur due to perceptions.
I am a racist because the democrats have always pandered to minority groups for employment, student financial aid, food stamps and have spread their policies to other parts of the country.
I always give them a chance to make me change my opinions about them
Because I have a pretty good life and don’t have to spend my time hating people irrationally based off of their race.
LOL, you’re asking others to “show guts” when you’re trolling anonymously?
Not trolling if it's a parody of another question.
Because i find the concept stupid.
Where im from we have nationalism.
I hate everyone equally, so not a racist.
I was raised in a melting pot.
There is one race, Homo Sapiens.
Why should i be one?
Not passing the far left's purity test, automatically makes you a racist.
As does being white.
Especially a white male.
Why are you a retard?
Why are you easily offended?
I'm not offended you are a retard.
