I think things have gotten pretty damn ugly for them already.

Their big mistake was all unifying under "I hate Drumpf" without considering literally anything that has nothing to do with Drumph. They hate each other now and the party doesn't really stand for anything other than anti-orange man as a single unifying theme. Some of them hate men, some hate whites, some hate America, some hate capitalism, and on and on the list goes. They all can't even agree on what to hate together unless it's got something to do with the orange man.

Like for reals, a lot of the things they claim to hate are things they loved during Obama and Clinton. Deporting illegals for instance...

They'll take the '10' side of an issue just because the orange man chose the '90' side. 90% of people agreed with "thing" until they figure out Cheetos agrees with "thing."

They're so busy with the hysteria of their self righteous panic that they can't look at the situation they're in with any honesty. I don't even know where they get 90% of this shit from.

I looked over that "big beautiful bill" thing that had everyone in a tizzy. The legislation looks great. It extends the life of the social programs Dems like. Lots of tax cuts, even for social security recipients. We can pay for the bill courtesy of the tariffs the Dems thought would destroy the economy. We get improved defense capabilities.

I'm not thrilled about stuff like Aligator Alcatraz, but holy shit. Dems need to get over themselves and accept the big beautiful bill for the win that it is.

Oh I think as adverse as it gets for the Left elsewhere in the world that discard the center for niche causes.

The Left in my country had a no borders policy so the average yobbo hammered them in election after election. The 101 genders wasn't such an issue but I can tell you mothers weren't well pleased when mother was changed to birthing parent on the forms. They were scathing

Gaza/Palestine protests were disliked but when violence against Jewish people turned views. Protestors smashed a Jews fingers one by one with a hammer till he told his phone's pin so they could get his contact list of fellow Jews. The Left gov't tried to say this wasn't racial violence. Sure it wasn't.

The Left is making itself look stupid the world over and worse acting against the general interest.

Don't know about your Democrats but they would get hammered by yobbos in mine. Your yobbos will probably do so too.

Things are only going to get worse for Democrats. The party has transitioned from the party of the working class to the party of identity politics, hint hint, majority of voters aren't into identity politics. Transition to identity politics isn't the only downfall of the democratic party, it's purity test that comes along with the identity politics. Democrats used to be open to differing ideas and view points, now now they have a strict set of ideas you must conform to or else your vilified as an evil person.

You're partly right. It's not that they've become the party of identity politics - it's that they're perceived that way. There is huge public support for the majority of their policies, and the majority of voters (especially working class voters) would be better off with Democrats running things - but Republicans *always* manage to redirect the focus of discussion back to the one or two unpopular policies (identity politics), and distract people from looking at the more important issues.

That's nearly always the way with US politics though. In the UK, there is always still a "leader of the opposition" (and even a full shadow cabinet), between elections - in the US, the election loser usually fades away, and the party that is not in power is usually pretty disorganised and leaderless, until the next election's primaries, when they effectively choose a new one.

It will be the same when Trump leaves office, as Republicans have absolutely nobody else who can fill that void - even the party's most loyal supporters must realize by now that JD Vance is a complete fuckwit, with zero leadership potential.
In the slightly longer term, the democrats actually have a lot more potential leaders - people like AOC, Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, Michelle Obama.
