Republicans pushed their giant bill cutting taxes and Medicaid through the House on Thursday, sending the legislation to President Donald Trump to sign into law. Due to this millions of Americans will lose health insurance as a result of the bill, while tax cuts favoring the wealthy will further swell the national debt. The bill will also supercharge Trump’s efforts to round up, detain, and deport millions of immigrants lacking legal authorization to remain in the country. The bill passed by a vote of 218-214, with all Democrats and two Republicans, Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), opposed. “Republicans in Congress have succeeded in our mission to enact President Trump’s America First agenda,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said in a statement after the bill passed. “And importantly, we did it in record time, so that the effects of this nation-shaping legislation can be felt by the American people as soon as possible.” The big bill rolls back expansions of the federal safety net recently enacted by Democratic presidents and entrenches the temporary tax cuts Trump signed into law during his first term. The $4.5 trillion cost of the tax cuts is only partially offset by more than $1 trillion in cuts to federal food and health programs, with reductions in Medicaid spending potentially imperiling hospitals around the country, especially in rural areas. “This is about taking from the most vulnerable to pay off the already powerful,” Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) said on the House floor before the vote on Wednesday. “It is about pleasing one man who is holding this Congress hostage with primary threats and social media tantrums. This bill is cruel, it is cowardly, it is a betrayal of everything this country is supposed to stand for.” The bill also rolled back the SNAP benefits leaving those wondering how will the afford to feed their families.

If there are “millions” of people participating in the waste, fraud and abuse that the Drumpf administration is trying to eradicate and prevent, i’m comfortable with them all “suffering”. The entitlement programs have gotten out of control and we’re long overdue for correcting that matter.
It doesn’t matter who is in charge. Big business always benefits the most from federal legislation. Even Obama’s ACA did more for insurance companies than it ever did for citizens in need of healthcare. The democrats loved it! All it really did was enrich insurance companies, bloat the entitlements, and force working class citizens to pay fines when they couldn’t afford health insurance.
The majority of people opposed to the bill did so just because Drumpf is attached. It’s an affectation of their TDS. There are a number of republican politicians associated with lobbyists who didn’t get their fair share of the pork who are opposed too. Not because of what may or may not happen to working class taxpayers as a result of a bill that literally nobody has read.
As with the vast majority of bills, we won’t know the effects for quite some time. The mainstream media will continue to lie about Drumpf and everything he touches. The ignorant masses will believe every word that they say. If every natural born citizen in the US woke up a millionaire tomorrow because of Drumpf’s work, the lunatic left would still make up nonsense about how he sacrificed babies to make it happen. So i trust them less than they trust him.


I am reserving judgement until the actual effects of the bill come to fruition. That’s the only thing a sensible person would do. Chances are i won’t feel a thing. Since i am neither a deadbeat who takes advantage of social programs nor a fatcat who takes advantage of tax breaks meant to bribe them to “stimulate” the economy. I am one of the millions of taxpayers who is sick of carrying both groups. But i’ve been doing it so long i don’t even feel the weight of it anymore.

Tax Cuts for the wealthiest which is offset by cutting Healthcare, Medical Programs That Help 17+ Million Americans, and Disabling people to get medical assistance via Affordable Care Act is like kicking an old man without a cane while he’s down after you removed his cane. This is cruel.

It making us less energy independent and less energy efficient, really makes me mad and furious since they claim to want that, only to go “oops”.
I remember seeing clips of Republicans and posts by Republicans that voted on it, claiming they had no idea what was in the bill. Just to get the bill to even pass in the first place, they bribed Alaskan Senator with provisions to help their state and only their state which got them to tie the vote which was broken by JD Vance.

A politician even admitted The Trump Administration faked data to showcase economic growth when most all economic analysts agree this will add $3.4 trillion to the deficit (another thing Conservatives and Moderates care about).

This is an outrage.

I believe if Trump practiced what he preached about us being a nation of energy independence, he would want 1) fuel efficiency 2) multiple fuel infrastructure 3) not punish the market’s investments in alternative fuel sources, but encourage expansion of efforts.
Do I even need to explain why these are good?
Efficiency means you get more bang for your buck, cutting efficiency would mean burning away fuel quicker with less energy utilized which does the opposite of energy independence. DOGE is the Department of Govt Efficiency, I know Republican Lawmakers including Donald J Trump know what efficiency means so, why be so against it? I’ll be darn, maybe it is the lobbyists of ‘Big Oil’ influencing their policy direction.
Multiple fuel infrastructure means Natural Gas, Oil, Wind Power, Solar Power, Coal, Hydro, etc. because when you have multiple sources of energy, it can help in certain areas. By supporting a diverse lineup, you get a lot of energy being utilized instead of relying heavily on one system. Solar Power is getting more efficient as our means of storage becomes more efficient, Wind Power too as we learn where the windiest locations are, it therefore makes the electrical system more efficient to power homes and other areas that need electricity. It just makes sense to utilize all resources and support innovation, not sabotaging our future.
When we expand efforts to make these systems more efficient, refined, cost effective, and less harmful to the environment, it allows America to flourish.
You don’t have to support “Green New Deal”(which isn’t even in effect, Biden didn’t implement it either) or a complete Green Ecosystem, you can have Oil / Gas too as we make the transition that is better for the environment. It won’t be like a lightswitch overnight, these take years. We should be continuing to invest now.

The very simple of it is that it moves wealth from normal people over to extremely wealthy instead as well as removes some safety nets and gives whoever is in charge more room to ignore laws.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would consider that good. Its one thing to want it because it benefits you, although I sincerely doubt gag has a single person that will benefit from it.

On one level I absolutely hate the general concept: cutting taxes for the wealthy and funding the cuts via reduction of programs for the poor is very fucked. (And also massively increasing funding to institutions like ICE that provide next to nothing to the American people while making claims about balancing the budget.)

On another level, it's so massive I have literally no idea what's in most of it and that concerns me as well. There are probably a lot of things that are embedded in there that could be pretty problematic, but aren't discussed because some of the other cuts, etc are so major.

I will say there are a few things here and there that I've heard about that aren't necessarily bad, and some that might be good (ex. the no tax on tips policy since most tip earners are lower income), but those things are so deeply overshadowed by the negatives that there's no way I can consider it a win.

All in all, I'm pissed that it passed.

An excellent copy of everything the Democrats are saying. How about being fare and pointing out the cuts in needless spending, tax relief to seniors on Social Security and other positive aspects of the bill.

Each state has its own Medicaid program, funded mostly by the state, with help from the federal government. If people will lose Medicaid coverage (that's not a given), that's a problem each state will have to deal with.
