What Is Your Opinion On Elon Musk Attempting To Form His Own Political Party?

On July 5, Elon Musk announced that he wanted to start his own political party. The Tesla founder and former adviser to President Donald Trump announced on his X account that he's forming the America Party. Just the day before, Elon posted a poll suggesting that "Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system! Should we create the America Party?" His poll surprisingly received over 1.2 million votes, with over 65% voting "yes." Elon shared another post officially announcing the launch of the new US political party. "By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!" he wrote. "When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom." Elon's been teasing (or threatening) to form a third party for a while. On June 5, he posted a poll asking, "Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?" Then, on June 30, Elon made an internet promise that if Congress passed Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill," which he's been a vocal critic of, he would form the "America Party." In another post, he added, "One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts. Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people."

My stance: We need less billionaires, less lobbyists, less corruption.

WE NEED MORE politicians who have OUR best interests at heart, NOT at profit or making the game more rigged in favor of them & their priorities / desires.

Expecting another corrupt billionaire to fix a two party system is as broken as entrusting a thief to live in your home thinking they won’t rob anything.

- 401ks replaced financially stable and predictable pensions.
- America hasn’t raised its worker minimum wages to meet rate of inflation since 2009. - Elon Musk bought his way to the presidency, same with Lockheed Martin also Microsoft, Apple, Meta, Bloomberg, Amazon, and all the corrupt elitists - Trump strong armed Republicans into supporting tax cuts for billionaires while slashing health benefit programs, also not putting in efforts to fix the overly inflated markets / hasn’t done anything to restore consumer confidence.

The same broken system team players aren’t going to be the ones to save us from ourselves, they will want to control the system to select politicians who are copy and pastes of their corporate agenda so, voters just put a bidding war on their ballots of who gets to make those guardrails further drawing power from The Middle Class to the Richest Earners.

He's going to have a difficult time... especially if he keeps the name "America Party".

For instance, in New York State, to appear on the ballot, a political party cannot have "American" in the name (per NYS ELN § 2-124) and, while "American" is not "America", it is not likely to be approved.

The emblem chosen may be a star, an animal, an anchor, or any other proper symbol, but may not be the same as or similar to any emblem, insignia, symbol or flag used by any political or governmental body, agency or entity nor any religious emblem, insignia, symbol or flag, nor the portrait of any person, nor the representation of a coin or of the currency of the United States. The name and emblem chosen shall not be similar to or likely to create confusion with the name or emblem of any other existing party or independent body.

3. If the name of any party shall contain more than fifteen letters, the state committee shall similarly select and certify an abbreviated form thereof, containing not more than fifteen letters, to be used upon the ballot whenever the necessities of space so require.
