What did you make of Emanuel Macrons state visit to the UK? A bit over the top?

If you regularly follow the news you would have seen that Macron visited the UK in recent days. Red carpets, showy dinners and big hugs were the main focus.

Britain likes a bit of pomp and ceremony, just part of our diplomatic technique. Same as when world leaders get a cup of tea with the king, it fills up their schedule and softens their stance on things. The bigger the knobhead the longer the red carpet.
