Through this dissolution, he even provokes the French people to assume the election of Marine Le Pen. Personally, I am against it, but if the French people assume their own destruction like the UK (brexit), I have nothing to say.

Yes, I think he did. Not saying its an easy choice or even one without danger but the alternatives are arguably worse.

To put it very simply, the right wing in France just one a moral victory (not a material one mind you) and the thing about politics is that appearances matters more than facts. This appearance of victory can be used by them to win actual progress for their cause in the following elections by just touting it around for a few years. Macron nipped this in the bud by calling this election.

This has a few effects. First of all, he can benefit from people being outraged at the right wing getting a win and therefore energizing his own side and getting a better chance at winning which means now is actually a good opportunity for him to use.

Secondly, if his side wins the election then he overrides the right wings argument that they are gaining support by proving that the French people are still against them. This way he can use the same strategy that they intend to do but against them.

Lastly, if he loses then he arguably still have a chance (especially to save his own position). This is a minor election and not the presidential one so if the right wing wins here they get to show how they would handle power in a contained way and as with all of these right wing movements they always screw up whiles in power. In other words you can demonstrate for the people why voting for the right wing is a bad idea for next time when the election is much more serious and hopefully permanently cripple the entire right wing for another generation.

So yeah, calling an early election is a risk but it is also a calculated risk. You might disagree with him and believe in a different choice but that is more a matter of taste since there is no objectively correct choice right now.
