We all break the law sometimes, when we think it's a victimless crime and we're very unlikely to get caught. Most of us probably drive a little faster than we should. If you're a tradesperson, you probably do a few jobs for friends, cash-in-hand, which you don't declare. If you're a politician, you probably engage in a little corruption and embezzlement. That is no defense though. If I get caught speeding, I fully expect to be fined. And there is no doubt that Le Pen did break the law.

In the US, the law doesn't apply to you, if you're rich and powerful enough, as Trump has repeatedly demonstrated - but that's not the case everywhere. In particular, France already convicted former President Nicolas Sarkozy of corruption, a few years ago (and he was back in court last month, on separate charges), so French politicians should realize they need to stay absolutely squeaky clean (moreso than the general public). And not just them, but their families as well - Hunter Biden, Paul Pelosi and Peter Murrell (ex-husband of former SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon, in Scotland), among others, have all caused a lot of trouble for their family/partners.

I can’t be unbiased about this since she’s the one who would have me deported for no other reason than the country I came to France from

Doesn’t matter that I’m an engineer working a high end job and paying high end taxes who never once broke a law or benefited from any ludicrous social aids

But in theory: it’s not very democratic to decide who runs a country like France in court instead of the election booth
However it is democratic to prevent criminals from participating in politics and as of now she is one so in a way it’s not completely wrong either

So I am inconclusive yet. On the one hand it was just money, no personal harm and I am unsure if it was criminal or civil case.
On the other hand punishments should be used to prevent the breaking of the relevant law further. In this case what other options are there than prevent her from running office? So yes the punishment fits the crime quite good. Not sure if there is a better way.
But its still a restriction to a democratic process, which should allways be a last resort.

Even if I consider myself as right leaning in many immigration questions. For me she is just controlled opposition like AfD, Meloni in IT, Wilders in NL or Konfederacja in my country. Those people/parties serve interest of US and Russia to destabilize EU. After being convicted is her political career over. She would betray and backstab in a millisecond their electorate if she were a person in power.

I don't know I don't know the details of her case but if there was any political influence then that would be bad. The right are the strongest politically when they can claim they're being persecuted in some way. When they're actually in power it's usually a clusterfuck as we can see with Trump :D I don't think running scared of right wing politicians is ever the answer. They will thrive if you do that.

You just need to accept that the right wing will always have a certain amount of support. In Switzerland the right wing party is the biggest party but If you look at the actual politics their influence isn't that big. You need a balance. If you try and eliminate one side of the political spectrum at some point that will correct itself and it will swing to the other side even stronger.

Most western countries today are trying to rig/control voting and if you don't vote for who their leaders want you to they call you a criminal. Similar to how the west used to go into countries without Democratic governments and force them to be "Democratic" at gunpoint. Probably because it's easier for intelligence services to control such countries. Not for any noble reason.
