What do you think of the history of China?

I have no opinion and no information. Now given what I think of China today, I could like to understand where they come from. What explains how they're such a bizarre country to me now, comparatively to, say, a classic western democracy
It’s rich but very cyclical.
One dynasty rises rules over the nation for a period of time, falls, is either replaced by another dynasty or the nation breaks into warring fragments until one fragment takes over again.
Don't forget that China is almost as big as Europe in historical terms, with an absolutely colossal population. Maintaining unity under these conditions over thousands of years is extremely complicated. But overall, China has managed to maintain its cultural and state cohesion.
And it dominated the world for several centuries.
Got conquered by Mongols. Ancient China that was cradle of civilization in east asia died in XIII century with Song dynasty. Yuan and Jin dynasty were practically Mongols who brought China decay until communist revolution.
Many great civilizations and inventions.
lots of hard labors. Very similar to the European monarchs society.
Julie. Are you in Bordeaux? I forgot. But we are leaving tomorrow. I am following you to share messages.

People bang on about all the things that were invented in China but we have to remember that its huge and had an enormous population. Of course things were going to get invented there.
I'm a SEVERE sinophile. They are the most amazing culture in this spinning ball of dirt in the void
They have a lot of history and I want to go see all the old stuff there, but I don't want some government appointed babysitter following me around everywhere.
China has absorbed many nations and therefore has many independent histories. One China one history, is just CCP propaganda.
They have over 5000 years of history, China is definitely one of the greatest civilizations of all time, they outlived Sumerians, ancient Egyptians, and many other antique civilizations.
I do not know a lot about it.
Too vague of a question given the context
Preyy deep and interesting
Its sad and bloody.
