Basically it's the USA.

1.) The USA. $310 billion in arms sales (inflation adjusted since 1971)

2.) The USA. Diplomatic cover and intervention in the region. Jordan, Saudi, Egypt, etc.

3.) The USA. US military direct intervention in the region. Carrier battle groups. B52 strikes in Syria. B2 strikes in Iran. Covert operations in the region. Intelligence sharing, Etc.

Effectively, every other country in the region knows that the US military is effectively an extension of the Israeli Defense Force and Israel is effectively our 51st state. Value of that... PRICELESS!!! Clout that gives us with Israel... HUGE!!! Why don't we use it to promote peace instead of perpetuating war. Umm, uhh, PROFITS?

And not try to build walls, steal water, encourage settlers to expand and generally be hateful to its neighbors, then maybe it could have a quiet semblance of peace for hundreds of years which eventually could mean permanent peace

Instead what they have done over past 18 months guarantees another 1000 years of conflict, bombs and killing.

The $310 billion has been "gifts". Money that Israel is compelled to use to buy arms from the US military industrial complex. The sales pitch to US taxpayers is that money will be spent at home producing arms for sale to Israel. And US defense contractors obviously make obscene profits so they are basically addicted to foreign arms sales.

Yes, LOL the strikes in Syria and Iran and Yemen, along with the 3 wars in in Iraq / Kuwait / Iran were construed to be in the interest of US strategic security policy. We did not send Israel or anyone else a bill for any of it. We did however send a letter to thousands of US middle class and poor families telling them their kids had died for some dubious reason in pursuit of oil and profits.

And yup started by the Brits and then kept going after WWII by Western governments in general, the whole mess comes down to idiots with a red pencil and a map who created borders all over the Middle East in the belief that they were smarter than the locals and they could solve this thing. What we actually got was a fucking disaster that has been unfolding for over a 100 years. Thanks Colonialism! Again!.

The map of Israel and the Palestinian territories over time is only the most egregious and stupid example of "red pencil" hubris from Colonialism. It was insane. It was never gonna work. But on top of the political stupidity you also have the religious extremism of Jews and Muslims which has been weaponized to fuel the conflict. It is a shit show.
